    Fishing...

    AP, actually no..., LOL

And to answer Don, I have always had the gift, inherited from my mom and grandfather... Neither as advanced as mine has developed, but still yet they had the talent of working with their hands.

I've always been able to see something art, crafts, wood working and be fairly good at doing it or picking it up rather quickly. I haven't had any formal training, just involved with it.

My son JP has actually developed his abilitiy to make a very good living, went to school at University of North Texas for Commercial Art. He is now an art director for a company based in San Fran.. He has worked on projects with PriceLine, Columbia Sports Wear, Radio Shack, Mini-Cooper of North America..., met William Shatner, Lance Armstrong... he has done very well.

Though fishing is a passion, my art has never really moved in that direction.

I have always been good at portraits, so in times when my income was low for one reason or another, I would do portraits as a side.

The birds and wildlife came form my style which is very realistic, actually called Representational. I like the detail.... Anyways there was a pretty big popularity of stamp competitons, duck stamps, turkey, etc...and a huge print market back a few years ago, so that's when I started doing birds and such... Plus Florida has a pretty good population of birds and breeding grounds.

The swans are a symbol of the city I live in, Lakeland, Florida.. The swans here are actually descedants from gifts given by the Queen of England.

    photos or paintings?

John,  I can discern that the boy with a cat is a portrait and the baby swans must be a painting since your signature is on the lower left ... but I am left wondering if the building with Key West on the blue awning is a photo or a painting.  If it is a painting, it looks amazingly real ... like a photograph perfect enough to be used by the chamber of commerce on postcards.

Your son inherited a wonderful talent.  I am always in awe of people like you who are able to create without formal training.  Being able to draw like that is like being able to play music by ear without being able to read music.  I can neither play music nor draw/paint on a canvas ... which may make me a better audience because I am so impressed with those of you who have those natural abilities.

    Just simply WOW.
