Question on low magnesium

Hey there !

I have had low magnesium since my resect back in "11.  The nurses freaked during my last surgery because I guess it bottomed out.  Anybody out there know what causes this ?  I did a web search.....but nothing made much sense.  When I ask about this as I did in the hospital.....they say oh don't worry we've got it handled.  I will ask at my next appointment....but if someone has some experience with this it would help to have valid questions ready and written down.  Thanks !    Katie

I think most humans get enough

magnesium in their diets, so normally it's not something that we're low on....tho, I know that many calcium suppliments also contain magnesium, so I wonder if it's due partly to age and menopause?  Other than than diet and age, I have no clue as to what might cause it.

I had to look it up....

...there is a whole list of things that cause low magnesium, but one of the things that stood out to me was Vit D definciency....Seems here in the US, Vit D definciency is pretty common.  Maybe taking extra Vit D would fix it?

    Hey P,

Marcia's Dr. recommended a Magnesium supplement as well as Zinc, a B complex and fish oil for some severe pre-menapausal symptoms associated with Aunt Flo. It took a month or two but she says it's much better now.
