Anyone have any experience with TACE

Hi everybody,

Steve and I met with the Chief of Surgery at a hospital in Montreal. This is where he had his HIPEC surgery last Spring. In fact, this surgeon participated in Steve's surgery. This doctor was happy with the tumors (liver) response to the systemic chemo. Recommended to do 15 sessions of chemo (goes for #8 next week) and then he would assess him for TACE. Chemotherapy eluting beads that target the liver directly. The hope would be that at the end of this procedure he would qualify for RFA or resection. As of now, the largest tumor is 4 cm. We told him that we have an app. on Monday, in Montreal, at another hospital. We asked his opinion of the surgeon that we will be meeting. He said that he was "aggressive". This is exactly what Steve's onc in Ottawa said. It didn't surprise me coming from her as she does tend to prefer a cautious approach. Was surprised to hear this description from the doctor who removed (from Steve) numerous organs and pieces of organs and applied hot chemo. He did not seem thrilled that we were meeting with this other guy. I'm not sure if this is out of concern for Steve's welfare or due to politics or money issues going on that we would not be aware of. (We are from Ontario, not sure how things work in Quebec). We are leaning toward keeping the app on Monday. Can't hurt to hear what the aggressive doctor has to say. But then again maybe we should save this option for down the road. Worried about burning a bridge by meeting with him now and going with the HIPEC surgeon. I may be getting ahead of myself. He could very likey say sorry, can't help. Too widespread. We will likey go through with the app. Just wondering if anyone has done or know anyone who has undergone TACE? The procedure doesn't seem to be done in Ontario but I think it's quite common throughout the US. Any advice or guidance is appreciated.

Thank you,

Chelsea

its funny but a good lesson

all the reports from vogel are in german, they are detailed but useless.

it cost 4000 euro each treatment, now i asked say three times for english copies.

never got them yet, one day, similar issue getting pet result.

getting the best care out of the german alternative system is a challenge, this little laugh is a great example.

I hope sharing the pluses and the mines informative. Its not all fantastic, far from it, you would be knaive if you thought it were.

The Phill's in the wisdom/suggestions for stage 4, made the comment about doctors being human. very valid, they even speak different languages.

Note the language in my hallwnagen report!, but what do you want, good english and grammar or the best therapies.

Another Irony, Its another characteristic I have in common with my oncologist. Our english and grammar has much room for improvement.

I am well, vogel is almost a god, yes he is human. I am grateful hallwangen referred me to him.

he gets 99/100 based on results.

at the time i was living life and studying other things, i let go of the raines so to speak and i thought i am paying these doctors, i might as well enjoy life alot.

after all none of them can give me a new useby date. the current one is july this year.

    hugs,

    Pete
