    Minor surgery this week

Doc had minor surgery for rectal muscle spasms on Wed. I think.

Hoping he will pop in at least long enough to update us on how he is doing.

    Doc's surgery was changed

Apparently it was just a consultation after they led him to believe it was surgery.  So now surgery is scheduled for Feb. 11 which is a long time when you're suffering as he is.

    Waiting is the hardest

So sorry to hear this since waiting is the hardest.  And even harder when someone is in pain.

So sorry to hear of the delay.

I sure hope they can give him some help with the pain until then.

    Thanks for asking

As Winter said, it turned out to be a consultation instead of the surgery itself.  Even the staff at the onc's office was surprised.  The pain is pretty tremendous, it's difficult sitting up to type, that's why I haven't posted lately.  Usually I email Miss Kitty about what's going on, but it's just so hard to sit up and get the computer into position to type.  Will try to keep all y'all informed more in the next few weeks.  In the meantime, every single second of every day is sheer misery, but it's still a good day to be alive.

    Sheesh Doc....can they not

Sheesh Doc....can they not give you SOMETHING to reduce this pain!!!    I cannot believe they're letting you go on like this in pain!!!     I'm not sure what your issue is, is it an anal fissure or something.....is there not some kind a analgesic cream to numb the area that may work??

Ask them about "Tincture of Opium"...

I've read here that has helped folks some...perhaps it would at least knock the edge off for you...have you tried one of those foam donuts.  You can find them at a medical supply store....those really help the positioning and can take the pressure off of sensitive areas down there.

I can't believe they are making you wait that long. I'd be furious. Hope you can get something to relieve your pain. Kind of hard doing anything if you can't sit up.

    Ointment

They did get me an ointment ($70 that my insurance didn't cover) but it doesn't really do much good.  Yes, it is a fissure that's causing this so I can't get the ointment up to reach it.  I'm really missing my surgeon from Flagstaff, he not only got the surgery scheduled for the next day, he paid the co-pay himself.  This guy here seems more concerned with his schedule than his patients.
