6 weeks post Op--now eating pretty good....

Since my J-tube fell out in the shower last week, and not replaced I found a way that keeps my food down...crackers. Before I was regurgitating with lots of mucus, and now if I eat something crispy with foods, it goes down fine. Has anyone tried this? My PA at Mayo/Rochester said it's time I get going on the full diet--well, I'm not there..yet...just want to keep my weight up.
My next onco. is 9/17 and just for labs--I thought I would be getting chemo because there was 1 bad lymph node out of 20. My margins were clean, staged 2-1-0. Should I demand chemo--I don't know. Thanks everyone.

    William....
Thanks, I know that chemo will happen. Hopefully in another month. My onco is from Mayo, and I don't understand why some prescribe chemo and some not..I was told that chemo is ineffective when one is type 1.
The pain is getting better, very slowly. Quite the change in lifestyle with EC.

    It just takes a while
Not sure when you had your surgery but it took me about 6 months of forcing myself to eat before I really started enjoying food again. I too discovered that crackers, toast, etc seem to help with eating. I haven't had the problems with congestion so much as some of you guys, guess I am fortunate there. My surgery was over a year ago now and I still deal with nauseu on a daily basis it seems but it has never been very bad for me. Sometimes these Drs we deal with can really astound you with their answers. At one of my first followup appts with my surgeon I asked for some advice or information on what I should be eating or not eating. His answer was that he really could not tell me. I would have to discover that on my own because each person's surgery is different and their recovery and post operative condition is different. Basicall he told me to eat and drink whatever I wanted and if my body would not tolerate it to not eat or drink it anymore. I followed that advice and so far it has worked out okay for me.
