chemo update

Of course the reality of this new chemo combo was not nearly what I was building up in my head.  I was thinking more like the original TAC chemo, and it wasn't that bad.

The zofran worked very well on the nausea, I only took one compazine.  The biggest s/e was sleepiness.  I slept most of the day when we got home, and a good portion of the next day.  Then today, I woke up feeling good (just a headache from the shingles.)

Thank you all for helping me not feel like a whiner, and for the unconditional support.  I love my kindreds!

Hugs,

Linda

So glad it wasn't hard on you. You have been through so much already. Thankful for the rest you got. I have a good feeling .. Praying the shingles are gone very soon. how long do they last anyway? I haven't had that yet.

Oh, Linda--so happy to hear this

Glad you had an easier time of it than before.  Sounds like you got a good rest too--glad you're taking care of yourself.  You continue on my prayer list nightly.  You are a true inspiration to me and many, many others here.  Keep on keeping on.

    Take care darlin Kay,

Kay, I hope you never have to

Kay, I hope you never have to deal with shingles!  In my case, they have lasted 4 months so far.  Yikes!  They can be extremely painful!  You take care too!

    Hugs,

    Linda

P.S.  There is a shingles vaccine.  You might want to talk with your doc about it.  Mine vetoed the vaccine because it's a live virus.

    Thank goodness!

Not nearly as difficult as you had thought might be. :-)

Take good care, Linda. And I certainly hope the shingles fade soon, very soon.

    Kind regards, Susan

Hi Linda glad that first time Gemzar was ok

Glad that you have been doing ok and hope it will do the job

Shingles is sucks too.   Maybe you can use some of  herbal supplements or lemon balm to reduce the pain:

    Good news!

Linda, Linda, Linda ... Such good NEWS!!!

I am so so so so happy that you are doing well on your new chemo drug.  I hate that you even have to endure another round of chemo --

May our Lord keep you close, provide you with strength, and courage

I think I will try the lemon

I think I will try the lemon balm.  I already take l-lysine everyday, it is supposed to help the shingles too.  And I do notice a difference if I stop taking it.  I would love to get rid of them altogether, but I'm starting to think it is permanent.  (What I've read says it leave behind a form of neuropathy.)

    Thanks for the tip!

    Linda

    I have a feeling

I have a feeling this new chemo is going to beat the cancer.Sounds like it's going better than you thought.

For the shingles my aunt had them. She was 90 and OMG she was in such pain/discomfort.She told me they're really bad. I can't imagine.  I hope the shingles will be gone soon.Don't want you to have them as long as my aunt.It was months. With her age she went downhill faster. She passed at 92.

    chemo update

Linda I'm glad the treatment went well....so sorry about the shingles. I seem to get them when I'm stressed out and got them when I was doing the AC round of chemo...for me it takes about 4 weeks for them to go away and they have left a scar. I have used ice to help with the pain.  I hope you feel better...thinking about you
