Mary Ann can use extra prayers

Mary Ann is in the hospital.  She had her PET scan last week, and did not get good results.  Apparently the Doxil did not work for her. Her CA 125 also raised by 50 per cent.  The PET scan also showed fluid in both her lungs and around her heart.  They drained the fluid off one lung one day, and then off the other lung the next  day.   Tomorrow they are going to do a "pericardial window".  She will then go to ICU.  She is not sure how long she will need to be in ICU.

Mary Ann is worried about the progression of the disease.  She thinks it is still contained in the lymph nodes around the lungs and heart.  She is wondering what the next treatment will be.

Mary Ann is very weak and cannot even get out of bed. Please say some extra prayers for her recovery.  She says she is a firm believer in the power of prayer.  I also believe that.

I've been worrying .  Thankyou for letting us know, Ro, and please let her know I can't count the number of times I think about her during the day.  Her courage, determination, and generosity of spirit have been the finest kind of example for me.  I want her medical  caregivers to know how much she means to all of us.

Mary Ann is in my prayers.  I hope so much that the hospital are able to sort these latest issues out and that a treatment is found which will get some control back over this beast of a disease.

    Prayers...

    Hi Mary Ann!

I am praying that you get through this with the minimum of fear, pain and stress and this is the last time you ever have to go through this again.

I hope this is your last relapse and only good health is in your future!

One of the things I have thought alot about lately is how truly blessed I have been with my body. For most of my adult life I have been so heavy I have dreaded looking in the mirror and cursed my inability to lose weight, and all the problems related with being really fat! However, as I have gotton older I have begun to appreciate how this old, fat body has been my friend despite the abuse I have put it through!

I think of my body as a miracle that continues to function despite what it has been subjected to. Our bodies can be subject to self-abuse, the ravages of illness and disease, and broken bones yet our hearts continue to beat and we are able to carry through the day....

In your case right now I am sure that might be of little comfort, but I believe you will recover and your body will heal itself enough so you can carry on the way you want to. It is just a matter of time....you WILL get better.

My thoughts and prayers are with you...

Mary Ann had her procedure this morning

Her husband called me this afternon and said the procedure went well.  She is feeling much better and able to breathe easier.  They took off 800 cc around the heart, 300 cc from a lung, and 1000 cc from somewhere else.  Unfortunately this message was on the recorder, so I could not ask questions.  That is a lot of fluid though.

I tried to call him back, but got Mary Ann's voicemail.  I told her she had many positive messages on the board and many were praying for her.  She will be in ICU over night and hopefully get moved to another room tomorrow.

Keep the prayers coming for peace and comfort for Mary Ann, and good news from the fluid removed.

For the update, Ro.  I've been on pins and needles all day.  She sure has kept my mind off my f/u appt tomorrow!
