Pelvic Resection and Ablation

Has anyone out there ever had a pelvic resection, specifiaclly of the pubic bone? Just wondering what the recovery of this type of surgery is and if there is any disability with it?

Also, has anyone ever had ablation of a tumor either with heat or cold, also in the pelvic area? 

I have a stage 4 metatstaic vulvar adenocarcinoma, with a second metasteses within one year. I've already had 6 cycles of carbo/taxol, and this new tumor grew while I was undergoing the chemo.

I am at such a loss as to what to do, it's so hard not to have anyone else to talk to who has experienced my type of cancer. I know we are all different and have to make a decision that is good for us, but this cancer is so isolating.

    I'm so sorry you are going through this. Cancer is very isolating.  I have never had a resection of the pubic bone but I have a resection in the lung and the abdominal wall.  My recurrent tumors also grew during carbo/taxol.  I have adenocarcinoma of the cervix.  I am glad to hear they are able to do surgery for you.  I hope they are able to ablate any remaining cancer cells.  This is a tough journey.  Hang in there.

    moving forward

    On Tuesday , Jan. 15, I will have the cryoablation procedure to my pelvic tumor. Doctors at Mayo think it is better option for me, and that surgery is too risky considering my current health issues from last surgery on right leg. This cryo procedure has about a 90% success rate with first treatment, so I feel pretty confident that is the right thing to do. I can always have surgery at a later tine if the tumor can not be controlled with this less invasive procedure. I have been through so much in past 4 years, I don't have the mental or physical fortitude to face another surgery right now, maybe later if the disease progresses.

    I am happy and content with my decision and look forward to getting past this next procedure and getting on with my life.

    Good luck to you.  I truly hope that this treatment is successful.  To manage this disease takes alot of strength.  You are strong and will fight.  Praying for a speedy recovery.
