And they state that the test was flawed because the testers KNEW who had the aloe and chemo, or who had just the chemo alone.  The test showed 67% shrunk tumors of the aloe and chemo vs. 50% shrunk in chemo alone.  The reason you have to be careful is they suggest a longer study, a BLIND study, etc., that wasn't done with this test (done in 2009)had severe metastatic cancer patients only, so do not know if this helps with stage III or less.

Mostly be careful with it if you choose to do it.  Aloe is a WONDERFUL LAXATIVE, and for people such as myself on Irinotecan with the diarrhea this isn't recommended as the diarrhea will become much worse on aloe.

Also be careful of injections of aloe, has caused deaths and the injections are outlawed in the US.

Always let your oncologist know what you are doing concerning alternative treatments to be on the safe side!!

It was a "preliminary clinical investigation" as stated by the authors. The next step would be a double blind, if someone funds it. No investigation 'starts' as a double blind.

Flawed is the word that the reviewers used, so you can say it isn't, which is fine, not true, but okey dokey, see things your way, I'll just believe the authors of this publication more then you, because, well, they are professionals. Not getting in an arguement with a novice over professionals. Just warning people, that not all is perfect and to research and check with their oncologist before using.

here is the 'review' text copied and pasted exactly;

"One study in Italy of 240 patients reported in 2009. It tested aloe vera alongside chemotherapy for people with metastatic lung cancer, bowel cancer, and stomach cancer. Half the patients took aloe arborescens as a liquid 3 times a day during standard chemotherapy treatment. In this study the cancer was controlled or shrank for a time in 67% of patients who had the combined aloe and chemotherapy treatment and in 50% of patients who had chemotherapy alone. In this study the researchers said that patients taking the aloe vera had a better quality of life and that they had fewer chemotherapy side effects such as numb fingers and fatigue. 

The researchers also said that there were no ill effects from the aloe vera. More patients who had the aloe vera survived for 3 years than patients who just had chemotherapy. Although this research seems positive the researchers said that there are some concerns about the study. The researchers knew which patients were receiving aloe vera and they may have influenced the results. The study also involved patients who were quite ill with metastatic cancer. It is not clear how well aloe vera would work in patients with earlier stage cancer. The researchers recommend that further research is done to confirm or disprove these findings."

All they mention is further research, which is the standard response after a preliminary investigation that showed some positive results.

Im sure the adults on here can make up there own minds about using this or not.

This is another Mango Juice

This is another Mango Juice on the scalp recipe. I just posted a working link for the juice.  

There was recently a post on preventing cancer and once you have cancer treatments are different. It is kind oof like finding an elephant in a strawberry field.  Do Elephants just hide really well in straberry fields?  or are they just not there?

It is important to keep an open mind. There are 796 Chinese Medicinal Herbs. Many have been found effective at treating various diseases. The western idea is the herbs are of varrying potency year to year, and strengths of teas varry from mixing to mixing.  Does this mean the Chinese Practitioners have it wrong?  or does it mean that varrying strengths of meds work?  There are studies that have found that aspirin in varrying levels works, versus always taking the same strength.

PS I think we need to keep open minds and realize that no one has solved the cancer disease.  At the same time realize what can hurt us.

(don't know why original failed but, as you see,most stuff eventually gets picked up by other med-related sites,tho nothing beats the original research paper, even tho most of which i can't undersrtand-aint no scientist)
