A double crappy day

I went in to participate (with my father) in a familial renal cell carcinoma study. My Dad had a partial nephrectomy 9 years ago, and I was six months ago.

This was my first post surgical scan, and there is a 2 cm mass on my left lung. Crap. Now, the double crap is my dad has 9 new modules across his two kidneys.

They are being more proactive with me....I am 49 whereas he is in his mid 70s.

Maybe it is time to finish up my bucket list.

    Sorry Dhs
I did a little background on your posts and found your original tumor was 6.5 cm so i know considering the size of the original tumor makes it that much more devastating. My original tumor size in my right kidney was 5 c.m in october 2011 only to have another tumor discovered in my remaining kidney in April 2012 to say the least i was devastated.I know their are not any words of comfort i can offer at this time to ease your dissapointment but i can say i know how you feel as do other members here.Dhs dont make a bucket list since you are not going any where,if it is RCC in your lung it is only one tumor and it is only 2c.m.There are alot of treatments available to deal with this and also depending on location surgical options are also an option. So go see your onc get the ball rolling and keep that chin up!!! P.S Really sorry about the news on your father but i would think if their is anything positive in his case atleast the disease is still confined to his kidneys and i will pray for him some type of treatment option is available to keep this atleast stable.

    I am not giving up
At this point, the lung mass is on the ct scan, so we do not know what it is. It was found during a workup at NIH, and they will handle the followup. I found the Dr's at NIH to be more communicative than my private Dr's, and I am only about 20-30 minutes from NIH. (and because of the family nature of my disease and some other issues, they are interested in me).
