Off to Pre Op testing and Anesthes. meet, but with a wrinkle ughh

Well my process starts today. Pre Op testing, meeting the Anesthesiologist, then the way the plan is supposed to progress is, dye injection Sunday, followed by my lumpectomy surgery Monday.

But... as life has it... I have a feeling they are gonna postpone. My husband had a bronchial/cold kinda thing last week, and I have tried like the dickens to stay away from him and not catch it. Well guess breathing the same air, I was not gonna be so lucky. I thought it was just my usual post nasal drip the other day, but as of yesterday Im pretty convinced I have what he had. Its not terrible, but I do have congestion in my chest. Im thinking they wont do surgery if thats the case. I do have a friend who is an RN that says generally unless there is fever that may be ok. But Im not sure. I know breathing issues are usually closely looked at. I mean, I can breath fine, but I do have a wheeze down there.

Ughh JUST when I was just about at the point of accepting this lot in life and wanting to get past this weekend, I may have MORE waiting in store.

Any thoughts on my chances of them being ok to proceed, or does this look like a deal breaker, until this clears?

    Hi
We get geared up for all this nasty stuff then something comes up out of our control and elongates the waiting game. All it does is causes MORE stress unless you are super woman......... Thinking most surgeries would be put off because of any fear of breathing probs and germs/infection. They don't even like you to have an open cut.

I'm having bone scan Monday and will be furious if something cancelled it out. So hope you get sorted ASAP. Non of this is nice this time of year or any time of year really. So much to do. Good luck.

Well , back from pre op
Well , back from pre op stuff, vitals, ekg, urine, blood. I did mention my cough/bronchial thing, but they listened to my lungs and felt they were clear enough. They also called my surgeon who called in an antibiotic for me, but feels its ok go more forward?

I guess I'll trust him. The pre op nurse also said fever would be a deal breaker, but I had none and my ekg was good, so guess here we go...

    Thanks Eleanor, how are you
Thanks Eleanor, how are you feeling today, day 2 huh.

My dye injection will be Sunday, the day before surgery. I wish it was all together, but that's how they do it here. I'm concerned about my coughing but will trust my doc i guess.

I'm very scared but just want to get this part over already.

Hope you get thru your week as well as possible

I am doing great today. My 2
I am doing great today. My 2 sisters came cooked and cleaned for me today, didn't have to do anything...brought food and I ate as much as I can...tomorrow is another day but I will just take my sleeping pill tonite and lets just wait and see...I still got to walked my dog although I was a little bit tired but it's good for my circulation...my husband and kids are here and very supportive so I try not to let them see when I feel a little bit down. They are the first ones who get anxious so i just try to be strong for them as well...I don't know how your spiritual support but prayers helped me a lot. I just surrender it all to Him. I still gett teary eyed once in a while, still think of the future, I still think of when my hair falls but I have to take one day at a time. And you will be ok and let me know, ok?
