First, thank each and every one of you for your words of sympathy and love expressed to me upon losing my precious George. The days have gone by in a blurr and it was difficult to stay strong but I did and took care of the necessary. I really had no idea there was so much to do when death occurs but with the help of my daughter, almost all is now done. Next week I meet with the financial planner to go over monthly expenses and work on a budget. Ugh. George always took care of bills and such so all of this is new to me but I did a spreadsheet today so hopefully that end will go smoothly.

I was totally overwhelmed with how many people attended the visitation and funeral. George's friends and business associates honored him in ways I never dreamed. We are in Michigan and people came from Texas, Kentucky, Tennessee, Louisiana, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Alabama and Pennsylvania. Just goes to show what a great guy he was. I never imagined more than 200 people would come thru the doors. I am so greatful and appreciative of their love and concern for our family.

George would have been pleased with the memorial luncheon. I had it at an Italian restaurant we went to often especially before cancer. A buffet of the food that I remember him liking. The owner remembered me and went out of her way to make sure everything was perfect, down to the linen tablecloths. His picture was surrounded by roses in the middle of the room. Dignified and perfect.

I miss him so terribly each day. The evenings are especially hard without his physical presence but I have his photo on the table next to the couch and his ashes are up on the dresser so in a a wierd way, he is still here.

I will try to check in more often and perhaps answer a few posts.

Love to all - Tina

That sounds like a wonderful tribute to George...I think we'd all like to be thought of and remembered in such a special way as that.

I've been learning this year as well about how hard handling a death is...though for a different relationship and much different feelings...but the logistics have been a nightmare and a real challenge...and from that standpoint, yes, there is much to do...so many t's to cross and i's to dot.

I've sure learned about it though...

Thank you for your contributions to the community, Tina...a caregiver's perspective is invaluable...I've always tried to grasp for your perspectives, but have always come up short, because I've not been in that position to truly understand what happens afterwards when the tears stop and you have to move on.

I can tell you that the passing of George and my thoughts of you...and another very special dear friend of mine, who recently lost her husband after you did...have changed my understanding of how death affects the one that remains behind.

It's opened my eyes in ways that I may never have understood otherwise.

Your love story with George has been timeless - a poignant reminder to all that true love really does exist. That is so very refreshing in the times in which we live now...

Cancer never took that love away from either of you.

I hope you do stay in contact - and you can always contact me, if you would ever like to.

    Hugs!

    -Craig

    So sorry
I'm so sorry for your loss. I haven't been on this site for quite a while - been quite ill.

George was lucky to have such a wonderful caregiver. I'm glad you had lots of support for the memorial.
