    Thanksgiving has snuck up on
Thanksgiving has snuck up on me too! We're off to the best place ever to have a holiday meal, and, that is my parents home! The house will smell wonderful and everything will be so perfect! There will be a lot of family there and the day and night will be filled with fun and laughter!

I'm taking the famous green bean casserole. LOL

    Happy Thanksgiving!

We've rescheduled it to Dec 4
My house is upside down. We're in the middle of a minor remodel and the place is a disaster. Our daughter and granddaughter are visiting Dec 2-5 so we decided to ignore Nov. 22 and pretend Dec. 4 is T-Day. So hubby and me, daughter and granddaughter, son and DIL, and grandson will be here on Dec. 4. I will be cooking in my brand new double ovens! I'm so looking forward to having double ovens again. I actually want to cook this year. I think it would be fun to decorate the tree together, too, but I'm not sure we'll have all the furniture back in place. As long as I have a table and double ovens, we can eat around boxes! Ambience is not important.

    Oddly I didn't realize it
Oddly I didn't realize it was NEXT week until yesterday. We stay home-just my adult girls, grandsons (all live at home) and 2 boy friends. I must get busy since our dining room is the boys "play room) we took table and chairs out and it's all their toys. (their room at my house very small) we had family room but that is their mom's room.

so I must shift, move many toys to get our table in.

(we have kitchen counter with 4 stools we use) so not like no place to eat on avg day.

Turkey day is at our house
We're having the family turkey day here at our home. I've been busy cleaning places that I only clean once or twice a year. LOL My husband has been so much help to me and always is on the big day too. Ofcourse, the kitchen will be full of everyone trying to help me, so, I plan on just keeping their wine glasses filled and maybe they will go in the great room and watch football. Too many cooks in the kitchen you know LOL

I'm wishing my sisters a happy turkey day.

    I love Thanksgiving
Usually I cook for this holiday hosting between 15 and 18 people but since I am going through chemo this year and the family thinks its too much for me I convinced them to still let me host it but we are having the food catered. I'm a little disappointed but still glad that I will have my family around and won't change too much of tradition for my kids. Plus I know the food is going to be amazing cause I'm having it catered from my wonderful brothers store..Bella Italia!
Hope you all have a wonderful and happy Thanksgiving!
    Hugs Christine

I am not having it here this
I am not having it here this year, as, we are going to my sister and her husbands home. Did I say yippee? lol It will be strange to not have it here, but, it will also be nice to not have to do all of the cleaning, preparation and worrying that I do. lol

I am taking cheeseballs, crackers, pretzels, chippies and dip, relish tray and a pumpkin pie. The snacks are for watching football all day! And, I bought 4 bottles of wine to go with everything.

    Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

    Thanksgiving plans
I am coordinating our community Thanksgiving dinner--planning on about 500 people.
Our volunteers are wonderful--returning each year to help. It is a great feeling
to be helping out families who need help. Even with the dx of BC, I still feel
blessed to be able to serve those who need it.

My son & DIL host Thanksgiving every year, so we will be going there after
the community meal is done. Looking forward to seeing the 4 grandchildren!

I always shop the day after Thanksgiving--it's in my genes, I think!

Hope everyone has a great day!

What kind of wine did you
What kind of wine did you buy to go with the turkey Noel? I've always drank a red, and, was just wondering if others drink a red with turkey too.

    Everyone's Thanksgiving
Everyone's Thanksgiving sounds wonderful! We do have a tradition at our family dinner and that is everyone takes a turn in saying what they are thankful for. I have to admit, it can get a little emotional, but, a very good tradition.

Wishing all of my beautiful pink sisters the happiest Thanksgiving ever!

I went to the store today
I went to the store today and it was a zoo there! LOL I think I got everything I needed, or, I hope I did as I don't want to go back until after Thanksgiving. I told my hubby that I'd make him go and he just laughed.

    Spending It with the In-laws
My husband joins some of his brothers and nephews to do some deer hunting in the morning. Then we will join probably 30-35 (never sure) relatives for dinner at the homestead. (He is one of sixteen children, most of whom live within an hour of here.) We will take a large dish of whatever his sisters have assigned for us to bring -- usually a veg like squash or corn casserole.

We eat about 1:00, as some of the men are farmers who have to get home for evening milking (about 4:00 or so). Those who don't have to get back to do chores may be part of a group that goes back out hunting until dark

These are the things that go on: card games, touch football outside (when the weather is good), watching football on tv, catching a snooze out on one of the couches in the family room, visiting.

We get home early enough in the evening that I begin to think about my decorations for Christmas and winter, although I wait to start until Friday. I do not shop either Thanksgiving Day or that weekend, as I do not like to shop, let alone when there are a bazillion people out in the stores.

Sometimes we have green Thanksgiving Days; sometimes we have snow (not lots) on the ground.

    I decided to make homemade
I decided to make homemade bread instead of the rolls. I've got everything I need and will be making it tomorrow. It is going to be a lot of trouble to make, as, I use my Mom's old recipe and it takes forever for the dough to rise, and then, you punch it down, and, over and over again. LOL But, it will be worth it, or, I hope so.

I go to my friend's house,
I go to my friend's house, there are usually about 10 of us there. Her husband cooks the traditional turkey, and they do rolls and gravy. The rest of us do all the side dishes. The kids run around and play, pool or video games. The adults visit and drink wine. We all eat too much.

We also take some time to stop at the neighbor's house. Our daughters are the same age and have been in the same class together all through elementary school, so they are like family to us.

Thanksgiving snuck up on me too...I realized a couple days ago that it is next week. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

    Hugs,

    Linda
