Feeling down and can't handle stress like before.

in Ovarian Cancer #1
Hello,
This is my first time to this blog. I was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer in July 2009. I had a complete hysterectoy and appendix removed. I had 6 cycles of carbo/taxol and then a whole year, once a month, of taxol. Then in March 2011 the cancer came back in my liver. In June 2011 I had the right lobe of my liver and gal bladder removed. I ended up getting staph infection, pancreatitis, and a colappsed lung. Then in Feb 2012 I ended up getting a HUGE liver abcess which required drains and a lot of antobiotics. In the beginning of May things went back to "normal." I have severe liver pain that will not likely go away and I'm exhausted a lot. I have anxiety and feel down quite a bit. At work, I have such a hard time with stress and it really bothers me. I'm all done treatments, for now, but now this is what I have to deal with. Is there any one out there that might be in the same boat. How are you handling things?

    I am stuck. I feel like I can't work part time because I need medical insurance. I think it would help a lot if I did. But I have to think on it. I am trying to find someone to help me with being down. I was so strong for 3 years and now all the sudden it hits me. Thanks for your advice!!

    Sounds like you've been through so very much. Although each of us have different stories, there are many of us that can relate. Being part of this community has been a comfort to me. I'm fighting this 6 1/2 years now with the last three spent in chemo. I'm glad to hear that you're done with treatments, but "normal" can be very tough also. This is a wonderful, strong and caring group of survivors and I hope we can be of help.

    hello, my name is Shannon. I was just recently diagnosed with stage 4 Ovarian on Feb 29, 2012. Finished the 6 rounds of same chemo and now going for my 3rd of the monthly taxol for a year. I am sorry you are having a hard time. I have my ups and downs too. We can just try to enjoy everyday we have, pain and all. I have been trying to excericise when I have the energy, and have noticed just being outside lifts my spirits.

    Truly. Diagnosed in January2010 with 3c; surgery , chemo, August 2010 Ned for a few months and then diagnosed with brain mets May 2011 surgery, radiation Ned again August 2011; no cancer still but feel like crying every danm day. The only advice I have is as needed anxiety meds and Corona! lol

    Seriously though, talk to your doctor. Celexa or another antidepressent may be the answer.

    for all you are going through. It is a tough journey and as Maria said the normal can be hard too. When you are in the fight, your focus is on defeating the cancer but once the treatment is done, it is hard not to "what if" yourself to pieces. I dealt with my period of NED very well until my numbers starting rising. Those few months of waiting for results were nerve-wracking. In a strange way I felt relieved once I knew for sure the cancer was back and I started treatment again.

    We all wish we had some magic words that would help you but know that you have found a place where at the very least you can express whatever is on your mind. I have said things here I could not share with my family. It is hard for them as well.

    I hope as time goes on you are able to come to terms with this part of your life.

I knew it showed something by the way the tech acted totally expected my doctor to say it was still there. No it was a totally different cancer, it was kidney cancer and I had to have my right kidney removed. So far that is the only treatment I have needed for that.
    There is more but the main thing is the support and friendship I got from the women here has kept me living about as much as the chemo has. I'm glad you have joined this group but am sorry you had to.

    i agree with antidepressanats, they really do help i also take xanax to help my nerves

    I agree with the
    I agree with the antidepressants. I take sertraline and anxiety meds. I also go to a therapist that specializes in cancer and that's helped a lot.
