Sorry, one more question

My husband had a selective right neck dissection in August 2012. Last night I just noticed that his right scapula protrudes much more then his left scapula. It is very obvious and I'm not sure if it is from nerve damage related to surgery or if it has something to do with the radiation he is currently receiving. We have 10 more radiation treatments after today and one more chemo the week of Thanksgiving...yuk. But , getting there one day at a time.

Thanks to all of you.

JOan

spinal accessory nerve damage is almost the norm after
radical neck dissection. Here's a pretty good review. The term to describe this finding is "winged scapula," appropriately enough. http://www.surgeoncosmetic.com/article-spinal-accessory-nerve.aspx

Thanks for the info Pat !
    Joan,
You are an excellant care giver. God bless you ! I have asked about this myself and was told it was due to my radical resect done. Praying for you guys that all continues to improve each and every day ! Katie (and yes please remember to take time for you !)

    Joan,

Well I learned something today “winged scapula”.

Like P51 I am happy you are moving into single digits. As for Thanksgiving, I had to go through a couple of “big family meals” while I was not eating. If he can eat, great, if not, make him a special smoothie.

    Best,

    Matt

Jim, My signifying other recently switched to Zofran and it took away the nausea. Have you tried it?
