Hepatic Mass

Hi y'all. My name is Toni. I'm 38. I've never had cancer.

I had a gallbladder test Friday (HIDA and ultrasound) and the doctor's office just called to tell me I have a hepatic mass on liver that they want an MRI done on.

I'm freaking out. What does this mean?

Toni, don't freakout just yet. It is not uncommon to have benign tumors or masses grow on the liver. Liver cancer has specific patterns that will usually show on a MRI. Wait until the radiology report comes back following the MRI. I know it is difficult to wait and not be overly concerned, but that is really the best thing to do right now. Unless the Dr.'s office said that it looks like something to be concerned with, I would suggest that it probably is nothing. Good luck and let us know the results.

    Thanks
I called back and talked to the head nurse for the doctor that scheduled the MRI. She said that 99% of the time it's an hemangioma but they always want to double-check. I felt much better after i talked to her. The nurse yesterday said, "It can be anything" and I went into orbit. So I am more calm now. Still worried, but not planning my funeral today.

    Thank you! I'll update tomorrow.
