Thank you, thank you for all
Thank you, thank you for all of the good wishes!!! I never heard from my doc, but I peaked at work and found out that my biopsy=chronic colitis, but no cancer!!!! Yay!!!! I never, ever had a problem until I had that bacterial intestinal infection in May, but since then I have something like intermittent irritable bowel.

Katherine (daughter) says it is getting better and I need to be more patient. I am sure she is right, but, when the GI doc calls, I will ask his opinion.

Anyway, chronic colitis beats cancer ANY day, so yay, yay, yay. And I want each of you to know that the love and support that I received here helped me sooo much :-).

    I got a guarantee!
Unless its BC mets, the docs said I will never get colon cancer if I follow their rules. I get the bad kind of mushrooms so I have to have a scope every 2 yrs and they scrape them out. I have also developed a creepyless(?) way to do the prep and the hospital is amending their instructions to include my extra step of practically fasting (all liquid or very light) eating the day before the day before. Makes the prep day a short yuckless process.
Ongoing, I went through a similar bout in May of divertulosis, lost 25 lbs in 3 weeks, and thought life would never be the same. Doc said to take psillium every day and also okayed an Asodpholis tab. I don't get the Metamucil brand name, I get the Walgreens generic. 100% psillium and gauge the daily dosages according to how much and what I am eating that day. I HAVE MY LIFE BACK!!!
    Try it babe!

We are happy with you too!
I don't know what you had to go through to prepare for this but it sounded uncomfortable. So glad that it was not what you feared. I am hoping that your daughter is right, but a confirmation will be nice from the dr.

    Doing the happy dance,
    Kay

    I am getting the Metamucil
I am getting the Metamucil and the acidophilus. It is hard to wrap my head around the fact that I now seem to have a chronic issue, but your advice sounds great and I am going to try it and let you know.

Usually, I just have to have a colonoscopy every 5 years. This was either my 5th or 6th. But I really like your advice about fasting the day before the prep. I think if I did that and skipped the dulcolax, I wouldn't have a problem.

    Great suggestions :-)

    hehe sorry babe
Still gotta do the dulcolax but it doesn't have a lot of work to do. The drinking of that stuff is gonna be the worst part of the prep. still :)

    Maybe its a Philly gene?!?!?!?!?

    metamucil
Cynthia -- Sorry I missed this post but very glad everything turned out fine. I have had issues with my digestive system for a while (for a long time, since I was a teen, now I am 34) and the metamucil has changed all of it. I take it every morning and sometimes twice a day when I eat more than usual. It has helped a lot and I don't feel bad as often as I used to. I hope your condition gets more tolerable and you recover soon.

BTW, get the natural metamucil (with no favors!). I know it might taste weird but you get used to it. and it's the most natural one...

:) good luck and feel better.

No, GI said I really could
No, GI said I really could skip the dulcolax. I had an untoward reaction and ended up on the bathroom floor vomiting. I did much better with the Mag Citrate. I know--I am just weird ;-)

    This is really great news!
I am so happy for you. I have been messing with this for years, diagnosis was different with 3 diff gastros...... had rads to pelvic, hips and spine and didnt realize that my small intestines was fried until I ate popcorn and ended up in er with diverticulitis.

Normally adjusting my diet helps, along with my daily oatmeal and fruits and veges, however, with all the meds, rads and chemo, sometimes I have no idea specifically what drives it.

Hopefully you wont need another one for another 5 years.

    Live culture
    Congratulations with clean results
Lately I found that dry culture does not work for me. I use live combinations who h much more expensive, however give good results. Diet defenetely helps too
Wishing you to find your best way for controlling this conditions
    Hugs
