PET Scan Friday

I had a PET scan in January 2010 just after my mastectomy and before I began treatment. This Friday I am going to have another. I have been having lots of pain in my scalp since last Novemeber. They told me I have to eat a high protein diet/low carb the day before. I don't remember that the last time I had the test. Do you know why they are having me do that? Thank you, Marianne

    Maybe I can help.
I think I was told NO CARBS....not low carb 24 hours before. An hour before your test you will be injected with a radioactive glucose solution. The glucose will be gobbled up by cancer cells and will "light up" on the PET scan. By not consuming any carbs 24 hours before the test, the cancer cells are more likely to take the bait (so to speak). I hope this helps. Good luck with your scan.

    ok
That makes sense! Hopefully they won't find anything and then I won't have to worry anymore about why I have that pain! Marianne

I'll gas up the Pink Bus --- gas prices here in
Southern California $4.91 -- per gallon premium grade -- no worries, a full tank of
gas will keep our bus running for several months..

I may have to cook up a chocolate cake to take with us -- Robert, can you make this
    trip?

Strength, Courage, and HOPE for a Cure.
