I love to talk about food
I love to talk about food too and I am glad you are tasting things. My taste is not coming back as soon as I would like but I keep eating. Made stuffed peppers for supper, we'll see if I can taste. The thing I have tasted the most so far was a breakfast burrito from McDonalds. They taste very good to me. Shrimp was something I tasted thru out my treatment. I ate Shrimp Fried Rice and the shrimp always tasted good. You sound like me, wanting to eat so bad, I wanted to get rid of the tube. That was my inspiration to eat and it worked, as of today I am tubeless.....

    shrimp! yes! the taste and
shrimp! yes! the taste and texture are very good to me. and cottage cheese for some reason.

    Buffet, buffet, buffet!
    Hey P,
Good to hear from you again. I mentioned this in a previous post but you might want to try this. I don't know where you are, but here in Baltimore there are a few buffet style restaurants (e.g., "Golden Corral", etc.). The first time I went there after my treatments, I was literally trying everything on their menu (and I mean EVERYTHING). I had so many empty plates in front of me that the staff probably thought I was hiding a dog under the table! :)! Some of the food was good; some not so good. I did, however, get a rough idea of what I could taste and what I couldn't.
    Take care,
    The "other" P (aintslinger)

On the prowl is a good way to describe what I'm up to.....LOLOL
Last night I whipped up a mix of summer squash, zuchinni, Italian stewed tomatoes, green peppers and onion....threw it all in a pot and cooked it till the squash was done. Only put a little garlic salt in, no pepper or anything....and I managed two bowls of the stuff....the first bowl I even put a tiny bit of parmasan cheese on it. I was so sure it would be a stinger, but it wasn't (didn't eat the tomatoes, tho). Hubby thought it was a bland dish, I thought I'd been sent to heaven, LOL.

I'm really pushing myself I know....pushing past the sting, cuz I want to eat so bad...Cinnamon stings too much to push past, but zuchinni doesn't :)...

Now I don't have to go to the neighbors and watch them eat, and have them describe their meal to me...HA!! I can munch down a little on my own....thinking of fixing something with shrimp in it tonight....shrimp were something I was able to eat until July, so they aren't all that stingie I don't think.

If anybody wants to talk food I'll talk with ya...it's still my favorite subject :).

    Orzo.....
    it's what we all need.

Great Rice substitute (when the Rice is not cooked perfectly).

Try it.....I'm blown away by this stuff.

    Goes down SOOOOOOOOO easily.

You Asked For It.... Shells Shrimp & Garlic Pasta
    Ingredients

    8 ounces linguine
    2 tablespoons butter
1 pound shrimp -- cleaned and halved
    1/2 cup Olive oil
    1/2 cup dry White Wine
    8 cloves garlic -- crushed
2 dashes soy sauce DO NOT OVERDO, BUT IMPORTANT
    2 cup heavy cream
    salt and pepper

    Instructions

Cook the linguine and butter in salted boiling water until almost al dente. Drain and set aside. Combine olive oil, wine, garlic, salt and pepper, soy sauce and heavy cream in a large saucepan. Add the shrimp, stir and add the linguine. Stirring gently, cook over medium high heat for almost 10 minutes, or until shrimp is done and linguine is perfectly done. Serve at once. It will initially seem a little runny, but will set up and become a wonderful sauce. DO NOT USE HALF AND HALF! Don't cook it the full 10 minutes if it doesn't need it.

Adjust to what you feel you can tolerate...

    Suggestion:
Roadhouse Chili by Campbells! They also have Firehouse, which I tried and couldn't handle. But the Roadhouse, taken-in slowly...Took many months before I tried, and was amazed by the kick I got from it. Another favorite is Oatmeal with ice cream providing the dairy addition to it.

    Scallops..
You can always throw in a few scallops also.....

This is one of the first meals that I ate when I decided to try real food again.

Actually I think it was when HONDO visited Tampa with his wife. We went and ate at Shells Seafood.

But it is a favorite of mine, I might just have to make it for dinner this week also....

    Food trucks
Had an event at the park last night with food trucks and music. Weather was perfect. They had a dozen or more food trucks. Picked a brat with blue cheese, real bacon, and sliced apples. Don't know how they made any money at $5. Had to eat it with a knife and fork but it was still nice just to be able to participate. It was one of those "there is life after cancer" moments :-)
