CT contrast

Has any one here while having their regular Ct-scan had to have both the contrast as well? I have had 3 years worth of scans, and today for the very first time I was given both oral and intravenous contrasts, have any of you uncounted that also throughout your scan history? It sure surprised me and caused some concerns, if any of you have I would like to know. Any info would be appreciated.

    Hi Don, don't know exactly
Hi Don, don't know exactly if is what you are looking for but each of my ct scans start with a barium "smoothie",they do images with that alone then they inject a dye and do additional images. This is every time. If you don't here from someone I would ask the doc. When do you get your results?

    Hi Dennycee
Thanks for your post, I have noticed not many people using this site anymore, or so it seems.normally whats been the case with my scans, I have always for the past 3 yrs. received only the IV contrast. My last scan showed NED, so I am completely baffled as to why I would be given additional contrast as well, but I noticed every person in the radiology Dept. yesterday was also drinking the same contrast as me, thought that was peculiar, and alerted me into thinking there was more going on than just coincidence. I get my results tomorrow so I'm planning on asking my Onc. if he ordered it. Thanks again for your response, and if you or anyone who reads this, I'd appreciate hearing if you thought that was a little odd that everyone there was drinking it as well.
