Hi all,
I am a breast cancer survivor. Yay! (about the survivor part). I finished my treatment in early May, which consisted of surgery, chemo and radiation.
So, for the past two months, maybe a little longer, I have been experiencing some symptoms that are scary close to symptoms of Ovarian Cancer. Had an ultrasound last week...nothing. They were looking for gallstones or maybe liver issues. I have a CT tomorrow, but don't have an appointment w/ my onco til Oct 5th.
My symptoms are ALOT of upper abdominal bloating. Creates alot of pressure. I can't eat much before I feel too full. I stay full and distended all day. It's slightly better in the mornings before I eat anything, but that doesn't last long. I have lost five pounds which puts me back to my precancer weight, but my abdomen is very large like I'm pregnant. I can't wear my clothes comfortably. Seems one day I was my regular pudge in the gut then I looked and felt much bigger. I also have changes in bowel habits, and am more tired. That may be due to just life and age.lol I'm 49 and have just begun homeschooling our 12 and 9 yr old kids. Yikes!! :)
Anyway, can someone please share if their prediagnosis symptoms were similar? Thanks so much.
Victoria

Please ask them to consider Appendix cancer
I am not trying to scare you, but those are also common symptoms of a rare appendix cancer diagnosis - PMP. My appendix cancer is not that dx, but I know of lots of people with it. It's worth considering.

If it is possibly appendix cancer, then you must see one of the appendix cancer experts.

As for me, I'm now in the thick of a breast cancer scare. A mass showed on my mammo, and also on an ultrasound. I'm scheduled for a biopsy on Monday.

Why does cancer have to attack us more than once?

    I had these symptoms
Bloating, urinary urgency, and bowel issues . Also extreme fatigue. I pray you do not have this awful disease...one cancer is enough...Val

If it was me I wouldn't wait
If it was me I wouldn't wait for the appointment on the 5th to get the results. I would call your doctor to get the results. They should have the results by the end of business today.

    Hi Victoria
My symptoms were on and off pelvic pain and abdominal bloating. You are wise to get these tests done, and I'm hoping and praying that your symptoms are being caused by something unrelated to cancer.

    more questions..if you don't mind
    Hi there lovesanimals,
Thank you for getting back to me so quickly. Can you tell me anything more about the abdominal bloating. Was it constant or was it off and on? Mine is definately more on than off. Today I hardly had a problem with it, but now it is starting up again. Probably 98% of the time it's there. Also, it is not at all in the pelvic area, only the upper abdomen. Something is just not right. Did you experience these types of abdomen issues?

    Thanks so much,
    Victoria

    Hi Victoria
I'm happy to answer your questions! In looking back, I'm certain I had some abdominal bloating for several months but I didn't really think much about it as I attributed it to my irritable bowel syndrome. What actually got me to the doctor was the fact that the bloating suddenly, in less than a week, got increasingly worse each day to the point where I could not zip up my pants.

The pelvic pain felt something like menstrual cramps. The pain was never severe, just more annoying. I had not reached menopause yet, so I assumed the pain had something to do with my menstrual cycle or my IBS or my uterine fibroid. I actually never thought cancer.

I'm hoping that your tests will show that your symptoms are being caused by something non-serious. Please keep us posted.

    Take care,

    Kelly

    update
    Hey all,
Just an update. My CT scan came back normal!! YAY! Thank you Lord. They did however find a nodule on my thyroid that has grown. Going to have that checked out. I'm thinking it's no big deal. Thank you to all who gave your advise. God bless you. He IS good!

    Hoorah, Victoria!
I'm so happy you got good news from your CT scan! What a relief! From what I understand, most thyroid nodules are not serious, which is what your doctor is probably thinking in your case.

    Take care,
