Cookbook/blog (for turmeric fans)

Amazon.com recommended this cookbook to me today, and I found the author also has a blog where she posts Indian recipes. I thought those trying to incorporate turmeric into their diets might be interested:

Blog: Anupy Singla, "Indian as Apple Pie." http://www.indianasapplepie.com/

Cookbook: "The Indian Slow Cooker"

I love the idea of making Indian food in a slow cooker and am excited to try it out. Apparently the author is somewhat well known, although she is new to me.

How about the actual spice, which hits your system even faster then waiting for the pill to breakdown? My nutritionist always suggests the actual food/beverage first, then consider the pill.

    Starwest Botanicals
    Turmeric Root Powder, Organic

I take approx 2 tablespoons per day mixed in as dressing on salad and other foods throughout the day. You'll find the Indians use in most every meal during a day.

Per below is what I found off some site. It's a tough spice to gain a like for the taste, but I know it's good for me, and have been taking it for over 2 years...simply part of my routine.

    Wish you well Fayard,

If you are simply using turmeric as a spice in your food rather than taking a turmeric supplement, "The Natural Physician's Healing Therapies," by Mark Stengler recommends using 1 to 2 tsp. daily, sprinkled on food or incorporated in recipes throughout the day. You can add turmeric to sautéed vegetables, egg salad, broth or soup, creamy veggie dips and meat. Don't rely on curry powder for your turmeric, Stengler cautions, because curry sold in the United States often is short on this spice.

Thanks for that site! We need to get the tumeric down!
I remember in the best selling Anti-Cancer book by Servan-Schreiver, he said tumeric is more effective when taken with some black pepper.
Also, some capsules will contain both which is better utilized than ones without pepper.

Sedonafree -- yes black pepper, turmeric and olive oil is what we want for the mix. If either of you search under our type cancer for TURMERIC, you'll see lots of postings from Claudia. She did quite a bit of extensive research on this subject. I'm a believer as take this mix -- twice per day.
