Am through with my chemo and curious to know how long it took for you hair to start growing back and how long did it take to get enough hair to wear without covering your head? Thanks

    HI VANESSA
My hair started growing back around 6 weeks after my last chemo, which this last time around was in September of 2006. In April of 2007 I had enough hair (although short) to wear to my daugther's wedding. Everyone loved it! I normally would never get my hair cut that short, but my hairdresser did a great job shaping and coloring it and it looked wonderful. And it was so easy to take care of! My daugther just told me last month that I should get it cut that short again! I don't know if I'd have the courage to do that now! But, that's all I had at the time, and it was perfect.

By the way, when people would say, 'I'm having a bad hair day', I'd smile and say, 'I'm having a HAIR day!' Try not to wear a wig/hat, etc. as often as possible so that your scalp can breathe and the follicles can start to work again. And even though you don't have much hair right now (or none at all), condition your scalp after shampooing anyway.

I had my last chemo on
9/16/2010 and by February of 2011 i went to my hairdresser to have what had grown in shaped up. I was pleasantly surprised that it ended up looking like my regular hairdo. I normally wear my hair very short as you can see.

    Hi Vanessa
My hair started growing back about five weeks after my last chemo session. After about three and a half months, I felt my hair was long enough to stop wearing hats/scarves. I was pleasantly surprised with the texture of my hair. Before chemo, it was straight and very coarse. After chemo, it was still pretty straight but much softer, which I like.
