Removal of the Cecum and Appendix is not a simple surgery. It is a colon resection, since it joins the small intestine with the colon. It was 8 days in the hospital for me. I career is active so, it was about 5 months before I could go back full time. (I owned the company, and I worked but at a lesser capacity.) Office work you could probably go back in a couple of weeks to a month.

    Best Always, mike

    Tumor of cecum
    Hi dae610,

In answer to your question...I had 2 tumors. One small benign at ileocecal valve and one large( T3) malignant tumor of cecum. I am female and my surgery consisted of incision from diaphragm to top of pelvis. Complete removal of right ( ascending ) colon, appendix, ovaries, & tubes. It was not a simple surgery. It took me a good 12 weeks of healing to be fully functional. If it is done by laproscope I have heard that the healing time is shortened.

    Best wishes!
