Scar Tissue/Biopsy

Hey All,
Today I went to my 12 week post treatment surgeon visit. At 6 weeks he saw scar tissue and said he would take another look in another 6 weeks (today) and possibly take a biopsy. Today he said he saw a spot in the middle of the scar tissue, and of course, took a biopsy. I understand the importance of the biopsy but I was wondering how many of you out there had this done. I am thinking very positive thoughts at this time, but I am curious.

Thank you all who post and share your experiences!

    Hi Lisa--
I have never had a biopsy of any scar tissue. I want to wish you well and hope all the news comes back good!

    Hi Lisa
I had multiple biopsies done at six months out of treatment. I'm not sure what my colo-rectal surgeon saw, but she saw something suspicious and did the biopsies. They all came back negative and I hope yours does too.

    Biopsy
I also just had this. Turned out benign. Unfortunately they could not complete colonscopy. So the search is on to find out why.

I have to have a colonoscopy also and am thinking I should go to someone who has experience in post radiation patients. I made an appointment with the Doctor who told me I needed to have surgery right away over and over again, which was not the case. Did your doctor have experience in post radiation colons? Just curious. I doubt it is the same, based on the vagina I have now and have been a bit concerned about this. I am just trying to avoid having to go into NYC for a colonoscopy a doctor who would be very familiar with colons like ours. Yuck.

Both of my biopsies came back normal! Sorry for the delay... After 6 days of no word from my surgeons office I had to call myself for my results. I couldn't wait any longer. I was told they never got an answer when they called but their number never came up on caller ID. When I heard the doctor said both biopsies were normal, I was never more excited! GOD is GREAT! Thank you all for the kind words or support!

    Biopsy
    Congratulations

Yes I would get someone with radiation experience. This happened last time but dr forced his wat thru. It was a different dr. I have woken for all three colonoscopies. I remember the first two and everything the dr said. I did not remember this one but the doc won't forget and nether will the patients that were there. Apparently I was begging him to stop rather loudly.

First, yes I too had a
First, yes I too had a biopsy 4 months after treatment was done to investigate some scar tissue and what the doctor thought looked like an 'ulcer'...came back negative thank God. Second, I'm having a colonoscopy this Friday and specifically requested my colo-rectal surgeon do it as she has been treating me with her team for the anal cancer from the get go. I just felt more secure in that she understands the cancer and also the radiation issues. Hopefully I won't have an issue on Friday. Last...but not least...yeah! on the negative results from your biopsy! Marilyne

    Good luck!
Sissy, I want to wish you all the best with the colonoscopy--I hope nothing of concern will be found.
