    You never forget the date!!
Three weeks before my 60th birthday, I was diagnosed. You never forget the date, time, or where you were, when you hear those fateful words, "YOU HAVE CANCER"! It's like you're standing on the top of an icy cliff with no way of getting down! Mine was 11/15/11, at 6:30pm, in the recovery room following 4 hours of surgery!! Final report:"Metastatic Carcinoma of the ovaries, Stage 3C"

Mine was January 20th at 10:40 AM.... Stage 3C This stage was total shock to doc. She said after surgery all looked great and she thought I dodged a bullet. Turned up microscopicaly on 1 out of 27 lymph nodes she removed. It was the node my right ovary was sitting on... I was 45

    After a "routine"
After a "routine" traditional hysterectomy, I went to my gyne for my one-week follow-up (and to remove a foley because of a knicked bladder during surgery), I recovered well and was feeling great, I went into my appointment and met with an intern because my doctor was on vacation who told me that my surgery went very well except that something came back on the pathology report and she said they found endometrial adenocarcinoma and said that the doctor would call me when he got back in town.

My husband and I left and I said so that means I have cancer?

I then had to have another adominal surgery for staging!

As I indicated, I was 45 at that time.

    67 at diagnosis
It looks as though I'm one of the older ones. I'm 69 now. This disease is horrible at any age, but my heart does break for those of you who have just barely begun to live. By no means am I done yet (!), but being retired, and having independent children, does make life with ovca a tad easier, I think.

    Cheers,
    Jo
