I was dx last year for two illnesses.
One was ovarian cancer (1C) and the other was Dermatomyositis which caused me muscle damages and swallowing problems.
After 2 surgeries and 5 round of chemo, I was in NED Jan this year.
My muscles are improving too.
However, my skin continues to be problematic: itchy, red and inflammed.
And the recent blood test showed my CA-125 has jumped from 8 to 46.
I am very nervous.
I will see my med/ono next Friday to find out what to do next.

I wonder if any of you have dermatomyositis along with OVCA?
Best wishes.

Green

    Dermatomyositis
    Thanks, Pattyn.
    Yes, I agree with you.
I admire the brave ladies who share their very own experiences with other survivors.

Since the dx of "Dermatomyositis", I have searched for its information. I found it is quite a rare disease. However, people have this disease also have a good chance of having cancer. As it is rare, I do not have high hope that I can find someone with similiar experience.

So sorry to hear you've been dealing with so much. But so glad that you are done with your treaments! I'm not familiar with Dermatomyositis, but it doesn't sound pleasant. Is it an auto-immune disease? Maybe this could be causing the rise in your CA125. Sending prayers and (((HUGS))) to you!

    Hi Green
You've come to the right place for information and support. I have OVCA but not the dermatomyositis. I'm so sorry you've had to deal with both. I'm thinking too that the inflammation related to your skin could be causing the rise in your CA 125. Please keep us posted and sending you good thoughts and prayers!

Thank you for your support and prayers
    Thanks to Monika and Kelly.

Yes, dermatomyositis is an autoimmune disease and is a type of polymyositis.
The cause of dermatomyositis is unknown but it is believed to be an autoimmune reaction in which the body's immune system mistakes the cells of the muscles as dangerous substances and attacks them. On the surface, it is an acute inflammatory condition of skin and muscles.

I hope you are right that the jump of the CA125 was only a false alarm.
I will stay positive and try to not think about the "R" word.

    Best wishes.
