Sad news today

Hi warriorettes I'm in need of a boost.
Had my Pet Ct today after Ct last month following two month testing hiatus after 27 IMRT radiation treatments to pelvic area.
Unofficial, not written feedback is:
The good new is that the pelvic lymph nodes seem to have shrunk and there is no uptake in that area. Bad news is there are four new Hot areas. Lymph nodes In the base of my neck near front clavicle area, lumph nodes in aortic area, on stomach wall and a small lymph node on lung.

Drat! Even though I know I'm Stage IV grade III I keep hoping all the interventions including diet ,excersize, pretty good attitude and wonderful support team of family and friends, will do IT. Guess that's magical thinking, and probably will begin new round of chemo next week.

You will knock this back, Sara
    Hi Sara
I'm not surprised that you feel in need of a boost - the new hot spots must be a bit of a blow. But "boosting" is what we're here for. Hold on to the news that the radiation does seem to have done quite a lot of good stuff on the pelvis, which is GREAT news. The lymph nodes at the base of your neck may also respond to some localised radiation treatment, or, as you say, more chemo, or hormone treatment if your cancer is receptive.
You have always come across as an "up and at 'em" sort of person on these boards, who is doing everything they can to fight this beast and has a great support team. I am sending you big {{{hugs}}} and positive vibes. I know that you will re-group and get through this next round of treatment, whatever it may be. And we'll all be here to help you, when you need us.
    Kindest wishes

It's so hard not to get discouraged after all that you have done and been through.

I also have recurrent lymph node metastasis. It's crazy how it crops up in another area just when cancer in one area is eradicated - kind of like a cruel game of "hide and seek"!

I feel bad for you. The jury is out on me (I'm getting hormone therapy) until I see my doc next week.

    Sending big (((hugs))), Mary Ann

    Drats!!!!
    Sara,

Oh my heart is in my stomach as that could be any of us. If I could take it away and make you cancer free, I'd go for it, but unfortunately not how it works. What I can do is be here for you to read your postings and let you know we're all in your corner fighting for your success to beat this devil.

As Mary Ann mentioned, sorta like hide & seek....and boy it's scary. All we can do is pick ourselves up and keep trying, but sure is frustrating. Come back her to unload as I think getting this off your chest helps, at least for me when I go to my local therapy group.

We're all here for you and truly understand your fears and frustration.

Sending you good vibes to keep the faith...don't give up EVER~~~~

CANCER IS NOT A SENTENCE, IT'S A WORD!!!

Sara sending you a BIG BOOST and HUGE HUG
Glad to hear the good news, but sorry to hear about four hot areas. Sure do not understand these lymph nodes, why some respond and others do not. You remain in my thoughts and prayers. I hope a new plan comes your way soon. In peace and caring.

    This all sucks
When does it stop...Why is our world so attacked and conflicted by this disease? I try not to dwell on it and carry on. My 90 year old mother in law had breast cancwe twice the first 53 years ago when they used brush on cobalt with a wire brush. She told me the other day she should get a star and I agree. She has told me not to dwell on the bad...keep busy and carry on. She has been such an inspiration.

Love and prayers to u all.

    First sorry for repeats...
    Daisy,
What did they do for your 'hide and seekers'?
    What treatments.
    Interventional radiologist says ,guess what?,radiology.
    Oncologist says chemo.
Surgeon hasn't called back yet.also get impression of 'hurry up and wait'
Don't want to run too fast to 'fix' without having all my ducks in order, I.e. doing research, on the other hand, don't want to waste precious time.
Thanks for your combined wisdom and support.

Yes, I do live in the land of miracles, Madonna opened world tour here! Most Ancient Cananite coins ever found make appearance. Women soldiers concerned that big influx of ultra orthodox male conscripted will make for more competition for their army jobs.
    Crazy wonderful country!

    hide and seek
    Hi Sara,

For first recurrence in supraclavicular lymph nodes, treatment was 7 weeks - daily tomo (low dose) radiation, and weekly caroboplatin. In 2 subsequent PET/CT scans, this area has remained cancer free.

Second recurrence, about 14 months after, since March 2012 I'm taking an aromatase inhibitor (hormone) medication - letrozole which is generic for Femara. I feel good and have no noticeable side effects. Doctor does monthly blood work and follows CA125 (which has risen some). I see him Wed so I will know more this week.

...but in mid July I am going to Boston for Tong Ren treatments by Tom Tam. (Tong Ren is all about the flow of chi - blockages are causes for medical problems like cancer) I'm excited about this since he has successfully treated so many of my friends and their friends. I will have a PET scan after return from this trip.

My doctor takes the "less is more" approach but also did not want to wait and watch this time. I hope all goes well with you.

Keep us posted. Prayer is powerful.

You are in My prayers, Mary Ann

    Darn!! that you must deal
Darn!! that you must deal with so many new 'issues.' Hopefully your team is working together to formulate the best approach for you and your QOL.

It is so wonderful that you were able to take your big trips, squeezing every morsel of enjoyment out of your days. Thinking of you and sending positive thoughts your way that you will get a plan in place.
