last week of rads

in Esophageal Cancer #1
I am starting my last week of radiation monday. last infusion of oxyplatin monday also. 2 more weeks 24-7 of 5fu. still not very many side effects no rash from rad yet. I have been blessed so far, I feel very fortunate. Just real tired and the days seem to get away from me before I can get anything done. The time has passed very quickly . I have ct sched. may 19,see Dr Orringer may 31, surgery june 19. I hope and pray everything goes as planned. I am ready to take this beast on mano e mano. phil & Dianne

    It is great to see the end in sight!!!
    Phil,

    I am sure it is great to be able to see the end of the radiation therapy and chemotherapy in sight. I know when I did my chemo 18 weeks seemed like forever when I started. I was soooo happy to get rid of the 5 FU pump!!! After 18 weeks of having that thing around, after I got rid of it I would get up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night and reach for the pump because I let it sit on the night stand next to the bed and I because used to reaching for it when I got up.

    I hope your CT scan shows that things are clear.

    Hi Phil and Dianne:

    like you are doing quite well handling your treatment - yay for you! We will be pulling for you and hoping all things are right where they should be for your surgery. It probably seems a ways away - but it will go faster than you think it will. It is probably hard for you to walk that 3 miles a day - but hopefully you are able to do at least a little bit - it really does help.

    Don gets stronger each day - it's hard to see the progress when you're together 24/7 but when I look back a week, I realize how far he has come. So far, he has had no issues with eating - he is avoiding sugar as much as possible. He is literally eating by the clock - something every 2 hours and he drinks gatorade in between meals. We just carry snacks and gatorade wherever we go. He has even went with me a couple times grocery shopping!
