    yes
I have always heard women with dense breasts who have been dx with bc should get a yearly MRI because the mammo sometimes misses some things. I also know that for those women who insurance issues, they do both a mammo and a sono. I am 33 and I know younger women have dense breasts. This is why I will be getting an MRI this Thursday, because my mammo from 6 months ago was hard to read. I say if your insurance can pay or you can afford to pay for an MRI, go for it! Better to be safe.

    Do it
I was misdiagnosed for 6 months because the mammos and sonograms did not see a sizeable mass due to my dense breast tissue. They told me afterwards, I fell through the cracks into the small percentage of women with this problem. Be glad your docs want to be so thorough!!!!

    The girls are so right
I, too, have always had "dense breast tissue" even since my first mammo. But, I have only had mammos up to this point. If anyone had recommended an MRI, I might have caught my breast cancer earlier than Stage 3C (I am now Stage 4). My mammo just 5 months before diagnosis was read as "normal" because my breasts were so dense and the calcs. were so deep. It makes me sad.

    new
There is also a new mammo for dense breast tissue but it is not in common usage yet, but will avoid the need for MRIs

    I had dense breasts also
I had dense breasts also and my 6cm tumor didn't show on the mammogram. No one suggested doing MRI instead so followups have been mammograms. Didn't make much sense to me. But I didn't question it.
