    Other than my health insurance specifically says it will not cover treamtment there.

    Hi, my name is Marie and I have been going to CTCA since 2004. Thanks to CTCA I have been Cancer Free for almost 8 years now. CTCA is one of the most amazing Cancer Treatments establishments that exist, and I would personally recoomend CTCA to anyone who has been diagnosed with cancer.

    I tried to get my father an evaluation there. Initially they told me they could see him in a week and do all these great things for him. They checked his insurance and then wouldn't return my calls for almost two weeks. Finally when I got ahold of the 'cancer expert' I was told that since he was on medicare they couldn't see him until june or july. Quite a bit different song from the first call and rather sad in light of all they make themselves out to be.

    I came on here to look some more and see what others thought, and it seems to be a recurrent theme, being told one thing, then having something else told once they find out insurance does not pay enough.

    CTCA and Insurance
    I was fortunate to not have any real significant insurance issues when I came to CTCA. I had Lifewise originally and while Lifewise did begin to create problems for me towards the end of my treatments stating "reasonable and customary" etc... I switched to Blue Cross and have not had any problems since. I know a lot also depends on the State you live in too. I recently learned about the Medicare problem when my Mom was diagnosed with cancer. Medicare has so many restrictions and pays so minimally that CTCA can only accept so many Medicare patients a month. I personally have not had any issues in regards with the CTCA staff working with me and my insurance companies, and that includes working with my Mom and Medicare.

    One of the reasons CTCA is so great is because it is a private hospital, and while I wish CTCA was available to everyone, the reality is not all insurance companies will accept them. :0(

    If you find yourself in a snag, I would highly suggest you keep trying. Persistence, even in our fight to survive, is key, and they are worth the effort to go see. I have never known CTCA to NOT be everything they claim to be... But I do understand the restrictions insurance companies have placed on us all and our affordability to good health.

    While I appreciate the canned response, medicare is a federal insurance and pays relatively the same amount. It also does not have restrictions so long as the facility is licensed. The fact that a center would 'limit' one insurance over another because they don't make enough is sad.

    Well while I am not sure what you mean by "canned reply", I do know that what my Moms Medicare paid, compared to what my insurance paid was considerably different. I hope that if you have questions or concerns you will contact CTCA directly. I am confident they will be able to explain the process.

    CTCA provides millions of dollars a year to outside organizations for cancer research and they also provide millions of dollars of medical care to untold patients. What is sad, is that CTCA isn't the standard of care at all hospitals... What is exciting is that they exist and that they are growing. One day, they will be the standard of care for everyone... That is my HOPE anyway.

    Cancer Treatment Centers of America
    My wife Karen and I went to the CTCA in Philadelphia several months ago after first spending time at Duke University, MD Anderson in Houston, a Hospital in Bethlehem, PA, Sloan Kettering in NY, and UVA, where she had surgery and a vaccine trial. Karen is suffering from Stage IV Melanoma.

    I can say without reservation that our initial visit and decision for her to be treated at CTCA was the best choice that we have made thus far. Our experience with their staff, service, facilities, food, transportation, scheduling and simply going "above & beyond" has been nothing short of FANTASTIC. We have only experienced one minor event with a lady in scheduling that must have been having a bad day, but that hasn't occurred since.

    As I have read these "posts" I have been amazed at how many insurance related complaints that there are. Our insurance company "Anthem" advised us that the CTCA was "out of network." When CTCA was notified, they didn't hesitate to advise us immediately with two simple words... "NO PROBLEM." They advised us that they would accept the 60/40 coverage for out of network as opposed to the 80/20 coverage for in network... and that our share would be the same as if it were "in network" or 20%.

    While there may be skeptics (as we certainly were), I can say without a doubt that these folks do what they say, when they say it and with the most care and compassion of anywhere that we have been yet. I am so thankful that we placed her care with this wonderful team of professionals. I do not work in the medical field, but I certainly know and appreciate great care when I see it.
