I wore REAL pants ALL day today!

This may seem trivial, but we all know you have to celebrate the little victories. My hand-assisted lap surgery was July 6. I've been back at work since August 29 and for the FIRST TIME I was comfortable all day in my suit pants! It's nice to have an option beside skirts and dresses... particularly since yoga pants are not appropriate in my office. :)

    pants
yes celebrate every victory no matter how small it may seem. My surgery was open and I had a large incission. pants were a big problem for me. Thank goodness I am retired and could wear shorts with loose elastic in them. so yes celebrate all victories. I wish you the best of recoveries. It does get easier each day. My surgery was June 9th

    Memories
Except for 1 or 2 ocassions when I had to dress up (a wedding and Court) I wore shorts for about 6 weeks after my 8.1.02 surgery. And I wore them very loose for no other reason that it was painful to wear them otherwise.

    I know the feeling
Luckily I can wear yoga pants to work, but I wore jeans for the first time last week. Even with a belt! (I still like yoga pants better.)

    Great news
I am glad to hear this. Be proud of every little step!! Congrats. I am dreading this part of the surgery. When I am able to go back to work, I will probably just wear jogging pants. But I hate to wear jogging pants outside the house. I guess I will just have to get over it.

    The good & bad
In my line of work, jeans or khakis are acceptable--run a construction and trucking business, and I was able to return to work an hour at a time.
But I had lost 25 pounds between the time of DX and post surgery, so everything dropped onto my hips and didn't rub the incision anyway. Then I purged wardrobe that was way too big and started over. Guess I was lucky that even with a 14" incision, it healed easily. Now, 5+ years later, the most annoying thing is it still itches. I try to turn the shower to cool at the end and hydrate the incision with lotion, which usually stops the itch.

Recurrences and subsequent surgeries have had me on a weight yo-yo. Today, the jeans fit, snugly.

But for you...good luck on your steps to recovery. Each achievement is a feather in your cap and can make you feel great. Keep on moving forward.

This is where this forum is
This is where this forum is great---I'm back in pants after almost 3 months but I still swell and I was thinking that was abnormal but then I read the posts and realize recovery is long and it's ok to be thinking about switching back to a loose dress. Keep recovering!!
