AAAAHHH!

My mom does not have to go back to doc until January. She is a little worried. It is making me very anxious. She says she's having nausea again and burning in her stomach and she thinks the cancer is growing back. I know for a fact the doc is just giving her body a break. However, she never had a great digestive system. I try to tell her that she always had problems digesting food. But a burning? How long does it take to stop feeling the effects of the debulking surgery? Could it be from that still?
I told her she is going to drive me nuts. I don't know what else to tell her but to call the doc and ask him to do the catscan.
Plus she's back to her crappy sugar diet again. I try to tell her sugar feeds the cancer...well supposively. She was eating salmon and veggies. Now she's eating peanut butter and cereal. I would think she would want to try her best to stay healthy. Also, she is still smoking cigarettes up a storm.I can't feel bad for her if she is still poisening her body. I did not even get the cancer and I quit smoking when we found out she had it. She is no exception. I know she claims she is too stressed. Well that is no reason to give urself another form of cancer.

    Maybe your mom needs
Maybe your mom needs something different for her gastritis or maybe she has a hiatal hernia.

The smoking is an addiction and your mom must need it to manage her anxiety. Good for you for quitting. It's hard to understand addictions--I think that all addictions should be thought of as a disease and not just weakness on the part of the addict.

I can only imagine what you are goIng thru & hope it gets better soon.

I must say mum does not and never has smoked but I understand your frustration that you feel you would do things differently, mum has just been diagnosed with a Hiatal hernia, she has had pain for a long time which her onc was convinced was an ulcer, she has now had an endoscopy and told she has the Hernia but they don't seem to think it could cause the amount of pain she has suffered at times. Soooooo, I read up about hiatal Hernias and told her all the stuff to do and not to do, she seemed only half interested, I think she is sure it is the cancer, also because of this last episode of pain they have done a scan and bloods of which we will get the results on friday, I feel constantly sick with worry and I am sure she does too! It is different for your mum and you, you have given up smoking to prevent getting cancer, she already has it and may feel it will make no difference to her, it too late? If she was told she was doing really well and keeping the cancer at bay maybe that would boost her to quit? I do have to keep telling myself I do not know how I would react in her situation, it is so difficult to know the best way to help and it is easy to try and take control but we can't, it is not about us is it.... So difficult, thinking of you and your mum and please think of my mum on friday, I will let you know how she gets on and if there is any more info on the Hernia side of things X

    I will definitely be
I will definitely be thinking of ur mom on Friday. Atleast they are giving her the test she needs to see exactly what is going on. How would they get a hernia. I mean, she hasn't been lifting anything.
I know i would be a mess if i had the cancer. I am just hoping i never have to find out. you take care and thanks for the advice.

Hi B.F Just to let you know mum has had her results, scan showed one of the cancer nodules had grown slightly but otherwise pretty stable, CA125 was in the 90's which is the highest yet but nothing to get too worried about, both docs so far both agree that the hernia would not be causing the pain that she gets so her onc is going to discuss her with the other docs and decide on the next step of investigation....... All in all better than I dared hope for so very happy, just need to get her pain sorted, much love and thoughts to you and your mum X

    hey
So sorry i haven't read this sooner. I have just not been on top of things. I come on the computer so quickly anymore. Very rare where i can sit and actually have a thought. It is called having a 7 yr. old daughter. Ha! Anyway, the news isn't super but she is moving on at a steady pace. Tina said she has never had a low ca125. Not even one in the double digits. So seeing as though i use her as my example of everything, it could be a very normal number. I don't know. I hope everythign works out for her.
My mom has still not gotten to doc. She won't go..i know her. I can see this huge bulge coming out when she stands. Her girlfriend Trish had a hernia after her hysterectomy so my mom feels like since Trish diagnosed her, it will now heal on its own. Ha!
Anyway, i will keep ya posted.....hugs to u and ur mum

Thinking of you both (((( ))))
    Hi Stella and BF,

just wanted you both to know that I'm thinking of you. It's difficult enough without having the extra responsibility of rasing a 7 year old, BF.

Take good care and know that more than one is thinking about you.

    Incisional Hernia?
Hi: Does she have an incisional hernia? Can't remember if she had surgery or not. I have an incisional hernia and have to wear a wide elastic belt to hold everything in. I have had it since my surgeries in April 2010 but they won't do anything about it until the cancer is licked or chemo is over. It can be painful if not supported.

    Hi Cheryl
Just wanted to say that my heart goes to you about the hernia. I can understand your frustration about it not being able to be dealt with till after the cancer or chemo is over. I had the same thing when I tried to see a weight-loss surgeon about having an "Endobarrier" inserted which would line my intestine, *not* get in the way of the peritoneum, but enable me to lose weight. Though not without its hazards, it still sounded better than any of the usual weight-loss procedures. But he was clear that he wouldn't consider touching me until I was off chemo for at least 3 months. Was to to have seen him about it last week, only a few weeks after returning to chemo. What the heck!

Is it difficult to wear the containing belt? Does it help you a lot to prevent pain? I do hope so.

Having cancer doesn't stop us *having* other problems. It just makes it harder to get the help we need for those. Big yuk!

Thinking of you Cheryl ((( )))

    hey
I cannot imagine God giving more health problems on the side. However, it happens. I don't think i could make it throught the chemo. So, i try to tell my mom how strong she is.
One issue at a time. I don't think i will EVER not worry about my weight. I lost wiehgt when my mom got sick. But after the initial shock of it all, I started eating quite a bit. Recently, well for two months, i have been eating better, and i am starting to lose weight very slowly. I tried to exercise and ripped tendons in my foot. Hahahaha.
Anyway, I don't know how cancer feels but i am there with ya with the whole weight thing. U ever need to talk about it, u let me know. Ok? Oh, and yes, handling a 7yr child with behavior problems, very bad ADHD, is not super easy. I just want her to make it through grade school. She will be 8 this month....her name is Tess.
Ok, well i will stop blabbing. Have a great one, and thanks for the kind words all the time. It cheers me up quite a bit.

    Not blabbing :)
    Hi,

Do you know, when I read what you are dealing with, I wouldn't swap my issues for yours for quids. It's one thing to have to deal with a health issue yourself, but much harder to watch someone you love, especially a child, deal with something so huge as ADHD..

It's not just sickness of the body that renders us needing support, but other kinds of issues that leave us without the ability just to lift our head up each day.

Hugs go to you and to Tess also ((((( )))))

    Thanks as usual!
Feels good to know someone gets what i write. And no, despite all i deal with their is no way I would switch places with u or my own mother, or anyone here that is suffering from this cancer. Makes my problems feel small. Wish i could move out of my mom's but now as i save money i feel like I can't leave her because i owe her for everything she has done for me. Sometimes i feel like an end will come and this time now where we are out laughing and having fun living is somehow selfish. I wonder if i should be concentrating on her health more. Just feels good to see this side of her again. And now after all the treatments somehow we are even closer. Ya know?
Oh well, Christmas time is here and it's my absolute fave.....SARCASM! My daughter has decorated the whole place in a 7 yr old manner. SCARY! Hoping to just appreciate this christmas we have with my mom.
    Thanks!Hugs to u too!
