    Not me, but
I know at least 4 women who received their care at Kaiser (Sacramento) and they are all very happy with the care they're received.

In Sacramento, Dr. Ernie Bodai, (the man behind the breast cancer stamp) is a breast cancer surgeon and strong supporter of "the cause". Ok, being a breast cancer advocate does not make him a great surgeon, but from everything I've heard, he is.

No matter where you receive your care, you can always get a second opinion if you're uncomfortable or uncertain. And, it's always our job (I think) to be educated about our disease and become our own best advocate.

    Why do you ask?

I really like the care I
I really like the care I have received from Kaiser. I am at Santa Clara Kaiser at the new facility on Lawrence Expressway. Keep in mind I am also an employee.
My treatment was pretty standard. I don't know if I would have gone elsewhere if it were more advanced, but for now I am happy with the docs and the treatment.

    kaiser care
Why would u get care somewhere else if it were more serious. There were only two answers to my question which makes me think people do not confldense in kaiser.

I'm very happy with the care
I'm very happy with the care I've received at kaiser. Here are some of the things I really like:

walk in digital mammos, no appointment needed.
email is a fast easy way to talk to my doctors, I get quick responses.
All of my docs can see all of my chart/history.
I don't have to hand carry x-rays/mammos/scans to a doctor.
If a doc thinks a test/scan is medically warrented, I get it without hassle from the insurance company.
The nurse advice line is available 24/7.
I have always been treated professionally and courteously.

I have a great deal of confidence in my docs and Kaiser. I'm curious...why are you worried/concerned?

    Hugs,

    Linda

    As Linda says....
I to liked my care with Kaiser. Only thing bad for me I was sent out of Kaiser for radiation because of the distance to drive to Kaiser. Which looking back was a big mistake. I used Vantage Onocology and didn't like it there at all. Lots of issues came up. Also once radiation was finished they were finished with me. They got their money and sent me on my way. Kaiser doesn't work that way and I was at a loss. Would never do it that way again. Some times you have to go a little further for better care. The every day care I get at Kaiser is really good. Like Linda says every thing is under one roof.

We are close enough to UCSF
We are close enough to UCSF if there were the need for a second opinion or if there were anything in the brain. They are the experts for brain stuff. I am confident in the care I receive here at Kaiser.
Kaiser has a bad rep from years past. They have come a long way recently. They are an accredited breast care center, they have a brand new cancer treatment center and they have some really awesome oncologists now. Like anything else, you need to be a smart consumer.
As far as the bad rep, part of that is due to the size. Kaiser is probably one of the largest employers in California. It would take several hospitals to add up to the that, therefore the number of issues would be similar to several other hospitals.

    I love my Kaiser. Linda
I love my Kaiser. Linda pointed all the reasons that I would have. i have been seen in Vallejo, Vacaville, Fairfield, Sacramento and Oakland. For Radiation Kaiser used a great facility just minutes from my home and it didn't cost me anything. My doctors are great and so are the nurse practioners. I get quick referrals and all the tests are decided by doctors and not some group that is watching the bottom line. When I had bladder bleeding they did test immediately and my bladder cancer was caught very early. When I had the vaginal bleeding they quickly scheduled a D&C instead of doing so many other tests that might not have caught my uterine cancer so quickly. When it looked like I had a genetic problem they did the tests and now I am being seen regularly to check for other cancers that I am at risk for.
Maybe there aren't a lot of responses because only a few of us have Kaiser. I have been with Kaiser for more than 40 years except for a small break when my husband's insurance coverage changed. I was not happy with the coverage or the medical staff I saw during that brief period. thank goodness his company changed back to Kaiser and just before I was diagnosed with uterine cancer in 2000.
Again, I love my Kaiser. I don't think I could have received better care.
Janie, not sure why you are asking about Kaiser but I don't think that jsut because there were only two responses it means that there is a lack of confidence in Kaiser.

My sister was cared for by Kaiser for 11 years and received very good treatment and care, she had nothing but good things to say about her doctors.

    Kaiser medical treatement
I became a new member to Kaiser this year and honestly was very anxious and worried about the care I would receive. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in late April of this year and now I am recuperating from a unilateral mastectomy with immediate reconstruction. The care I have received from the doctors, nurses, and staff has been awesome. I can't imagine having to go through this cancer journey without quality care with compassion and love.
