it's the end of the world...
Don't forget our furry friends
"Our service is plain and simple; our fee structure is reasonable.
For $135.00 we will guarantee that should the Rapture occur within ten (10) years of receipt of payment, one pet per residence will be saved. Each additional pet at your residence will be saved for an additional $20.00 fee. A small price to pay for your peace of mind and the health and safety of your four legged and feathered friends."

The fine print:
*If subscriber loses his/her faith and/or the Rapture occurs and subscriber is not Raptured (aka is "left behind") EE-BP disclaims any liability; no refund will be tendered.
*Should a relative residing within the rescue location not be Raptured and opts to retain the pet(s), EE-BP will not take posession of the pet(s). No refund will be tendered.

No judgement here from me about this.
I'm not sure what is more disturbing. The prayers or the preyer's.

    news?
That's not news. That's an ad. I did read an article that said they have more than 250 people signed up.

Love your Mona Lisa! For a short while I had my bug eyes posted for avatar.

The 1st part is NEWS, the second link was an ad...
Every 4-5 years there is an apocalyptic news item. I guess one of these times they have to get it right! Judging by the looks of Harold Camping, today could be his last day...

I have a few versions of that avatar. It's a classic!

    Hey Phil
Now we know for sure that these "jokers" don't believe that "all dogs go to heaven". Another fine example of the incredible human race(race for greed, that is).

    Disturbing on many levels...
First, there are many organizations that DO indeed help people and try to live by the teaching of their beliefs. Then, there are groups like these. Mostly these guys (and Koran burners) get all the press. I did visit this site to find out more and I listened to their belief and/or interpretation of the Bible that says that they know the end is near because of homosexuality. They had a audio clip called "Gay Pride: Sign of the End".

Well...it's 6:08 here and nothing happened...it is drizzling again

    Hey Gracie
Now, you were tooooo brave. Taking a shower right before the world ended. Just think, if there were any people that remained, your earthly body would have been found naked. LOL
At my age, that would be a fate worse than death.

    Hey Blake,

Good to see you back, or are you writing from parts unknown.

    Firenze!
    Resting my swollen leg!

Tomorrow Rome, and a night at the Waldorf-Astoria!

We have discovered that the museums will provide wheelchairs, so four hours at the Uffizi was very doable today. The biggest lesson of this trip is that I am now, officially, an invalid.

    I heard he miscalculated,
not sure what the "new" date for the end is now. I personally believe in Scripture that not even the son of God (Jesus) knows the hour or the day. It is sad that people cash in on just about anything.

Have a wonderful "Memorial Day" weekend! And THANK YOU for ALL those who have served our country.

    The "New Date" is...
Earth actually will be obliterated on Oct. 21, 2011
Or Dec 12, 2012 according to the Mayans.

    PT Barnum was right....

    Dear Curious...
    :-)
The Oct date was the new date from Mr Camping. He made a miscalculation the first time.
The 2012 date is when the Mayan calendar ends (allegedly) so I guess that means that it's the end of us. I think the Mayan civilization ended a heck of a lot sooner than 2012.

    Hi Phil

It is sad that so many people were deceived by this end of the world thing. A lot of them were very good people who were lead by a false leader. My Bible tells me that in the last days there will be many of them. And yes I do believe this world is coming to an end, but again my Bible says no man knows the day or the hours. When I see stuff like this and people being lead away with these false interpretations it makes it look bad on all Christians, but then not all Christians are the same.

    Take care

    Hi Hondo,

The Koran has an equivalent to the Book of Revelations called the Al-Qiyamah (The Resurrection). It seems just as convoluted and difficult to read as Revelations and subject to numerous interpretations and exploitation of well intentioned Muslims . Many influential Muslim leaders feel that Al-Qiyamah is nearing but the exact date is also unknown, there are signs but again these signs can be interpreted differently.

It seems that since the time of Jesus(puh), and possibly before there have been many 'end timers' or 'doomsdayers', many of whom prey and take advantage of well intentioned people (Muslims and Christians) however isn't it time we all wake up and question some of this nonsense instead of just blindly following it?

    Hi Mariam
I am not too surprised becuase both Jews & Muslims have their roots in the same person Father Abraham. Like you said Revelation can be a very hard book to understand if you don’t use the book of Daniel to help unlock some of the mysteries in it.

I once had a copy of the Koran but not too sure why happened to it, I believe I loaned it to someone and never got it back. Like you said, it’s sad because these so called religious teachers are only prying on the good intentions of these people. But then again these people need to study for them self’s to see if these teachers are using the Bible or just their own interpretation in making clams like the world will end on this date and time…

I am going to go look for my Koran tomorrow to see who has it. I have 4 friends who are Muslims and one of them is a very close friend that I have known for almost 18 years now. He is a great guy and very true to what he believes. I love Ramadan because I also tease him about looking at woman during the day time and keeping his mind clean.

    Thanks for your input

    The Qiyamah in general is
The Qiyamah in general is spread out a little throughout the Koran and the Surat Al-Qiyamah is actually quite short and on the surface doesn't seem to say much. There is a website that has some interesting information on Qiymah that I think is worthwhile reading even for non-muslims -http://www.al-qiyamah.org/.

Another thing with the Koran is that it is not chronologically arranged, the longer Surats are in the beginning and the shorter at the end. It assumes that one has great familiarity with the Old Testaments at is makes repeated references to it. I can understand people having a difficult understanding the Koran. However most people never question another's interpretations of the Koran and blindly follow the interpretation in a spiritual vacuum.
I am extremely curious to know why som
e of these people chose to follow this prophecy of the world ending at a certain time on a certain day without question and what it really means for them.
