A year later...

Hi everyone,

It was a year ago May 27 that I got my diagnosis. Here it is June already and unfortunately the NHL is active again. Have had many doctor appointments lately and have a gastro test on Friday to try to determine if "it" is in my small intestine. Either way I need treatment but... the doc at Sloan Kettering said he does take life events into consideration (like my daughter's Oct 9 wedding). He said we can go two months at a time with testing to see if it's time to treat or not.

So I've been up to my eyeballs with docs and testing and working etc. Sorry to have been so absent. A bit depressed but am working on that as well.

Miss you all and praying for all of you.

Love,
Donna

    Second opinion
    Dear Donna,

I send you my very best, and sad to hear you will eventually start treatment
again. I will be thinking of you on Friday when you go to the gastro doctor.

I can only give you my opinion. You went to the very best Sloan Kettering. It
sounds to me, the doctors are not alarmed, and will test you every 2 months.
I realize my words are of little comfort. Considering you were in remission for
so short a time. Try and not think of the worse. I really can relate with your
recent DX. As you know, I too was DX in remission the same month as you. I did
not have a pet scan afer my visit with my oncologist in May 2011. I will be
seeing her again in Sept 2011. I would assume she will then order another pet scan.

If at all possible, try and think of your daughter's up and coming wedding. This
is a special time for you and your family.

I will look for your post after this Friday. God Bless Love Maggie

    Hi Donna,
It will be one year since my diagnosis on June 16th. After all of my treatments I didn't get to hear the words remission. Thats ok though, I'm considered "stable" and if I can stay stable , then that will just have to be good enough. Getting the Rituxan maint infusion every other month, instead of every 6 months like others here, kind of keeps the cancer at the front of my mind. Just about the time I start to put the thought to the back of mind it's time for another infusion. I'm so sorry your cancer is active again...wondering if it's active..(as I do) is one thing, but knowing it is, has got to be very depressing for you. As Maggie said, you are being treated at one of the best cancer institutes in the country, so that gives me comfort knowing you are getting the best of the best with testing and care. October will be here before you know it and it sounds like your doctor will work your daughters wedding around your care. It's hard to take each day one at a time when your facing the probability of doing some form of new treatment, but try as much as possible to not get too far ahead in your thoughts. My prayers will be with you every day dear Donna, and I'll keep positive thoughts for your tests next Friday. Take care, and remember we are always here for you. Post when you have some news and in the meantime know you are loved by all of us here. God bless you...Sue (FNHL-2-3A-6/10)

    Thank you
    Maggie and Sue,

Thank you for your replies. I hate feeling the way I do and I know it will pass. I am very excited for my daughter's wedding - I just wish I felt better. My main doc is at Jefferson and my second opinion doc is at Sloan - all the best of the best. I am very fortunate.

Thanks. Don't know what I would do without all of you.

    Love and prayers,
    Donna

John, you are so bad and naughty. Yet, considering everything you've
been through. you still have a sense of humor.

God Bless and keep the humor coming. Maggie

    Multiple post
    Maggie,
I was having that problem a while back with multiple post and it was due to cookies were causing the problem. I had to clear all that stuff out and all was fine(Sue told me how to do it). I read on the board a few months ago that sometimes your post does not go thru and if you press the submit button again it will post as many times as you press the button. I thought this was a good chance to try it. If it did not work then my previous post would have looked rediculous. LOL John

I am so sorry you are dealing with Dr's again. I hope if you have to have any treatment it will be easier than the first time. Try to focus on your precious daughter's wedding. Take care and may God bless your journey. Joanie

    Double posts
    Hey John or Sue,

I didn't know that I was double posting! How do I clear out the cookies so that will stop?

    Thanks in advance.
