My husband had treatment with cisplatin and navabeen. Had some hot spots after completion. They are now going to try chemo again with a drug called Lymphia or something like that. One treatment for about 2 hrs. every three weeks along with B-12 shot. Has anyone ever heard of this drug? If so, what are the side effects etc.?

Alimta... generic name of pemetrexid is given with b-12 shots. Very common chemo approved for use in lung cancer.

    If its Alimta
If it's Alimta, Mom did well with the combo of Carboplatin & Alimta together (also b12).
Treatment was the same 2hrs every 3 weeks and after 4 treatments she had her scans with good results. She never got sick on it nor nausea did lose her hair. She did have the flu like syndrom after the 1st 2 treatments that lasted 1 day each, also her naps were important as well she always said its time for me to go rejuvinate...LOL.
Hope your Husband does as well as Mom did!

    It is Alimta
I am so dumb about this cancer thing. I just heard the Dr. say the drug name and assumed it was linked to Lymph nodes that were swollen when they did his lung surgery.I asked the nurse today to write it down for me and alas it is Alimta. I hope my husband responds to the Alimta like your Mom. We were so disappointed when the other chemo did not do the job. Thanks for responding.

Being Dumb about it is Bliss. :)
Hey don't worry about getting it wrong.... Bet most people on these boards would like to go back to the time when we were dumb about it as well. But since we dont have that option... the best course is to do what we all must do... seek knowledge and not worry about being dumb at it....Just ask lots of questions.

I dont always understand some of the doctors... especially if they have a heavy accent. So I have been really trying to have them spell the dhemo, procedure whatever... so I can look it up later.

Alimta has worked for a lot of people...here's to it workin on your husband.
