Who's the queen of stem cell harvest??

ME. Great news everyone! We got them all today...ONE DAY and actually I am an over-achiever. We needed 2.5 million stem cells per kilogram of my body weight...we GOT 5.14 million per kilogram of my body weight!!!!

To answer Johns questions, it's a big machine (sounds like a giant chemo pump). The trifusion port has 3 lumens/lines coming out of my chest. The first line takes the blood out of me, runs through the machine where it spins it to separate the white blood cells, the red blood cells, the plasma and the stem cells. The machine collects the stem cells and the remainder of the blood comes back into me through one of the other lines.

They said because I am small they were able to filter all the blood in my body 7 times today. She said it looked like they pulled a lot of blood out, but really it's only about a cup at a time.

It took 5 hours. I was sooo ready to leave.

I'm pooped...Thank you all for the prayers.

    Drug availability
Well chemo is now scheduled to start on 6/6. I may be going home for this time since there will be so much time in between, but I don't want to lose my room here at hope lodge. I'll probably check with my social worker to make sure I can do that.

    I'll keep you updated though.

    Take care,
    Beth

    Hi Beth,

I hope you can retuen home for next few weeks. That would be so great and I'm sure it would help you emotionally. Be careful with the horrible tornadoes that plague your area.
Hopefully the social worker will be able to arrange for your room to be available when you return in June. Keep us updated, I know you must be so tired.

    Peaceful healing

    I checked
When I talked to the gal downstairs she said they are way too busy to hold my room so I will need to leave tomorrow. I haven't talked to the social worker yet, but I did leave a message for my transplant coordinator to find out what to do.

I don't know whether to jump for joy or break down in tears. I hate all these delays, it just sucks. I don't know what to think.

Since it's been awhile since my last chemo I am feeling better although my energy level is kind of sporatic still.

    How you doing Lisha?

    Take care,
    Beth
