Hi everyone I am new to this site. I have been battling cancer for 7 years. Metastatic colon cancer that has spread to my liver. I started the Tetrathiomolybdate (TM) treatment 2 weeks ago. The experimental treatment is supposed to lower copper levels in the body to slow the growth of cancer. I am also taking Xeloda with this drug. Side effects mostly very tired. I get tapped about every 2 weeks for ascites fluid that builds up on my stomach. First tap, drained 10.5 liters which is equivalent to just about 30 pounds, second tap drained a little less about 7 liters, I am hoping this is a good sign. Went for blood work yesterday should know if anything is improving soon, I will let you know. Has anyone else had experience with this drug?

    Welcome
    Hello Hopeful Golfer
Welcome to this discussion board. I was a caregiver for my dad. He passed away in March from esophageal cancer with mets to the liver. Congratulations to you for continuing to fight this cancer. My dad took the oral chemo xeloda for his ec. This chemo did very well at shrinking the tumor and putting him in remission for one year. Once it went to the liver, the xeloda did nothing for him but give him every side effect possible. I am praying that this chemo will work for you. Stay positive and keep a strong faith. Keep in touch.

The results of my blood work
The results of my blood work came back. The TM drug seems to be working; my copper levels have lowered however I was extremely anemic (below a 7). This could account for why I have been so tired lately. I had a blood transfusion on Wednesday and I am starting to feel more energy than before. As for my CEA count, on this lab work it was at 201, doctor said I should know by January if TM is working to stop cancer growth. I will keep you all updated.
