Underwire - no wire Bras

Tuesday I got my new bras. I've always worn underwire basically all my life. The bras I got when I got my pros were no wire as it was suggested at that time (I hated them) - that's over a year ago now. Well I went in close to 2 weeks ago and underwire bras were ordered in for me to try. Went in Tuesday and there was 1 underwire that I really liked (and it fit right) and she had another no wire there that I also liked - so I got those 2. Have worn both now and love them both. They are different in how they fit but both are great. Definately no problems with the underwire at all - it is comfy.

If you've had a mast. and have always worn/liked underwire - don't be afraid to try again. BE sure though to go with the right size - not all are the same though it says a certain size. 1 'D' I tried was too small on the remaining, 1 'C' was too big - different styles/manufacturers are different. The 2 I got are the same manufacturer but the underwire is a 36C and the no wire is a 36D.

    I wore underwire before surgery, but the wire hits right at incision underarm and it's a no go for me now. And I purchased a bunch of new bras just before, so there they sit, with the tags still on them.

    I found a decent no wire from Bali. They also have 'petals' to hide nipples and now that mine are at odd angles! it works for me.

    Bali makes mastectomy bras?
    Bali makes mastectomy bras? Did not know that!

    All my mast. bras are by ABC (my pros is also by ABC). I have to go through a certified fitter for VA to pay - there are only 4 certified fitters in SD and the other 3 are more than 300 miles away - so I deal with the local and she's great.

    I had a Mod. Rad. Mast. so definatly have scars to under arm plus my rad. burn scars. We are all different though. My point of posting is that just because 'you' have had mast. does not mean tht you cannot wear underwire IF you want to. Not working for you - but is for me - each need to try IF they liked them BC (Before Cancer).

    I had a lumpectomy, so
    I can still buy the regular bras (even tho I'm irregular!). Because of the location of my scar, can't do underwire - it hits 'right there'. But, just as bc is different, so is the surgery site.

    When I had my
    When I had my mastectomy/skin conserving surgery and immediate implant, surgeon said not to wear anything tight and NO under wires. Its been 6 months and the under wires are still a no go! they hurt the side with the implant! man i miss my support! but i still have to go in to get the right side lifted to match the new perky one....maybe under wires some day!

    I just can't do underwires because of the ribs mets. I used to like the Victoria's Secret wireless Body full coverage bra best, but, sigh, they've changed it. The new one is ok, but I liked the older one better.

    Me too!
    I have had the worst time trying to find a bra that doesn't hurt. I had a lumpectomy and my scar is on the side. Nothing has fit right yet!

    Someone recommended that I go to a specialty shop that sells mastectomy bras.

    The one that I am most comfortable in
    is Bali Concealers Wirefree. I've collected quite a few bras and am hoping to find someplace to donate them, as they have only been worn once.

    Underwire
    I never liked underwire.Had one and it was soooooo uncomfortable.That was my first and last.

    I had my bc surgery. After that I had a place on the cancerous breast that was bulging but I just had surgery(Maybe fluid??) I was scheduled 3 weeks later for a second surgery to check margins.I told the doctor about the bulging on my cancerous breast where I just had surgery.I told him my bra doesn't seem fit right and does cause it to bulge. Probably why the swelling?? He said we will wait and see during surgery.I told him probably my bra.He asked if it was a underwire.NO. I said I don't like them at all.They hurt. For that surgery it was a tumor but benign.

    I wondered why that question from my doctor(is it underwire??) but for years I heard they could cause cancer.My friend (a 16 year survivor) said she will never wear one. She said it was a cancer worry for her.AND it seems her doctor said something.It has been years ago but just what I remember.I will ask my breast surgeon about underwire bras at my next appt.
