DRY AT LAST, DRY AT LAST, DRY AT LAST
Wow was so easy to start. Doc said it quit dripping immediatly, 3 hours and so far dry as a bone, went to pee once , no problems! Now the kinda bad news, Because I have the double cuff he kinda wants me to turn it off over night YUK. Compromise I have an appointment in 3 weeks we will discuss it lol. Odd thing happened sometime last night the darn thing flipped and the button is now down and the bulb is up. I know the button and lines were on top before today as I have checked it regularly, weird. Doc said no problem if I want, work on flipping it back, but won't bother a thing like it is, certainly don't bother me so leaving it alone. All the research on the web says there is no benefit turning it off in any of the studies so I have to get my ducks in a row on this one. The turn on is so easy I'm lucky i didn't do it by accident fishing around down there. OK trew your turn !
Thanks for everyone here and the support during the last few months. I know I for one get very nervous over any and all irregularities but I've been bitten a few times by unexpected results So again Thanks all. Too anyone even thinking about an 800 DO IT. If you want to talk just leave a msg on the board and I will gladly give my e mail or phone number to you. Thanks to all my fellow survivors!

I can hardly wait! I am
I can hardly wait! I am sure my next U of MI visit will just fine and I will be cleared for surgery sometime after May 9. I can hardly wait.

March 23, 2009- 2 years ago today- I have divinci surgery and lost a nice part of me. I am glad I am alive, but I miss what is gone so very much.

    Mine is flipped.
I know you are estatic for being dry, CONGRATULATIONS!! I have been dry now for about 3 weeks after activation. AND Oddly enough, mine is flipped too. I posted that a few weeks ago. The doctor had no explanation but it still works just fine. I only have the one cuff and I don't have to turn it off at night. Each day, I get used to it more and more, I've even forgot I had it once and tried to urinate without squeezing, nothing happened and I gave it a quick squeeze and that was that. The cuff closes almost immediately after urinating and sometimes I squeeze it again to make sure my bladder is empty. I emailed the manufacturer of the AUS 800 to ask if the control pad flipping had been reported by others and if it would be a problem but there was no response. I will try again.

    Scar tissue issues
Like some my urthrea has had problems with scar tissue. Only one OR visit to clean it out, but one local uro tried cleaning it the old fashion way with wire. My! that was an experience.

I have been cathing since Sept 1. I am now downto 2-3 x a week. but today I noticed just a bit of resistence and I have been bleeding all day. I will cath again tomorrow and see if there is any change, but I am still bleeding some about 12hrs after the cath this morning. I just hope this is not a scar tissue issue. that would be another delay......

    I am hoping..... every day.

    Good for you!!!
Gaurds, I am glad to hear that you got your issues resolved. I had mine put in in November and am loving it just as I sense you are as well now. I was leaking (3 - 4 pads a day w/occasional accidents) for 19 months before I took the plunge. I now don't worry about accidents nor do I carry pads with me any longer to change during the day, however, I do still wear one but I could easily go for days or weeks without changing if I have to. Haven't actually tried to go without yet. 100% quality of life improvement. I caught myself feeling so normal that I would stand at the urinal and expect the flow to start like before my RP and then finally realize that I still needed to squeeze the bulb. I am lookiing forward to using it during my summer activities now. Again, I am happy to hear that you are finally able to enjoy it.

    Guards, funny you mentioned
Guards, funny you mentioned contacting your doc about moving the start day up a bit. All day yesterday I was thinking about writing my Dr at U of MI and telling her how I pray for her health and welfare daily, and if there is any openings before May 9 I am available. But she is not one to be rushed, so I'll just wait and count the days.....

Guards, I am excited about your turn on date coming up.

Which side of scotum did they place your control button? I have been thinking about this and in my mind I am not sure which way it goes. and I am one of those kinds that sometimes I do a few things from the left side and I am not sure which side the swtich goes. Details, details, details.......

    Left side
Mine is on the left. I am left handed, not that it makes a huge difference I guess, but using my left hand to activate has felt more natural to me. More like it was pre RP, if that makes sense.

    Guards, you have crested
and are on the downhill run. Enjoy, and if you ever doubt your choice, go back and read your posts on this entire thread. Nice to see all going so well for you. Congrats. The AUS will soon be almost taken for granted (but never entirely).

Well I had my checkup today and the doc decided after discussion to leave it engaged 24/7.
yahoo! Everything is working great so far. I am nearly totally dry. Had a bit of a cold last week so some pretty heavy coughing caused some very monor spotting. Still not using any pads though I bought some panty liners, haven't felt the need for them. Got a new psa and it was 0 for the second time. So life is rosy today, I had a smile on my face at the doctors office for the first time in a long while. I will now let this discussion float off into the archives so it can be used as a reference. I will be around the board especially to see how my friend trew progresses. Thanks all for the inspiration and support. Oh I forgot no doc for 6 months !

    Trew is always watching
Trew is always watching anything about AUS stuff. Glad to hear it is going well with you, Guards.

I posted on another thread but no one seemed ot notice so I will post it here. I'm getting a new model of the AUS called the AUS801. When you push the "go" switch it plays "Don't Worry, Be Happy" while you urinate loud enough so others can hear it and enjoy it too. Nice cnversation piece in public rest rooms.

I don't see how no one picked up on that- it was back around, let me see, April 1 I made that post. A newer model due out soon is the AUS009- plays the entire Beethoven 9th in 3 min segments.

    Everyone, life will get better.

    Heavy coughing
At my last appointment (April 12) I reported all is well to my urologist. Told him that the only time I have minor spotting is with sneezing heavily. It seemed to bother him as if things weren't perfect. I disagreed with him, saying that if the urethra was clamped tightly enough to stop all spurting that it may be too tight. He seemed OK with that. It is such a minor problem. No leakage otherwise. I find that when I go into to social situations where I want to be assured of NO embarrassment, I use an Ultra thin Tena Pad.

And Roothead, unless things have changed I believe Trew is on for May 9. Hope so.

    May 9 it is
On May 9 the doctor will take another look all the way up into the bladder and if it is clean- maybe she will say its time. I"m ready. I am getting anxious about this apppointment- I do not look forward to months more in limbo. I have become so reclusive. I am afraid I stink of urine. My wife says I don't but when I change pads I can smell it- even if it only a few ounces. I am always thinking others must smell me too.

Interesting trend thought, my daily pad weight is down from 15- 20 oz in Jan to about 5- 10 oz a day now. but I still have that occasional pad that is saturated, like this morning, I woke up and had 7.2 oz in my depends. that doesn't happen every night- 4- 6 nights in a row I am very near dry in the morning. then I have a morning like this morning. I just hate all dripping.

You guys with the AUS installed- keep posting. and do any of you have any nite accidents?

I've read your posts and those from others.
Best of luck to you on May 9. It's obvious that a lot of guys are pulling for you. I'm new on the PC boards. My earlier entries appear in other places on the boards. I'm still fumbling, figuring out how this system works.

I have read all messages about AUS 800 and have learned more than I ever dreamed possible. However, I continue to have questions and I'm still looking for answers.

I am scheduled to see my uro on June 3, go through eurodynamics tests two weeks after that and possible surgery on July 11. I may run into problems inasmuch as I had both RP and external radiation. We'll see what happens.

I too hate the dripping, especially when it overflows the pads at a place where it is not convenient to change the undergarmet.

I have had 99% no leaking. A couple of times when I sit on something hard I have an short tiny drip, but not enough to change my underwear. This has happened maybe twice in two months.

    OH KRAP
Well it is December 8 I made 10 months and the stuff hit the fan. I am sitting here in total dispair, Two days ago suddenly I started leaking big time. I will call my URO tomorrow am totally lost, all the searching I have done it appears I am looking at some kind of surgery reguardless of the reason, body failure or mechanical. I had noticed some increase in spotting due to cough or sneezing recently but no big thing I had a cold for a bit. Then last week I felt much better and started to pick up my activity. Have been pretty inactive all summer. Tried golf and bike and they didn't do to well. So had some chores that had been let go around the house nothing major or particulary heavy work just general stuff all the lifting was very light and I had help. Now I must wear a moderate pad 24/7 using 8-10 a day at least they arent as bad as the guards. but I figure as soon as I contact the uro he will turn it off again snd I'll be back to the full size embarrassment. figures If anything can go wrong it will for me, has not been a great time since 2004. Not sure when I will be back here but someone had to be the first to post a failure Hope you all have much better luck my friends. Take care.

    Back from the scope
Well I got to get the scope run up me tube again, Lucky me. Doc tried a week of meds to kill any infection and I was still leakin. Good news I dont have any problems with erosion and thats great news. He spent a lot of time up there looking and said everything looked fine so hes very confused ,never seen one like this. so sent me home I'm to turn it off nightly for 8-10 hours to give yretha a rest. In feb will devide how to go from there. this is getting awful long but I want to keep it all together as a kind a diary for a complete reference. I will probably have to have surgery and won't know what to replace until hes inside but at leaast I will only have to spend 6 wks down while it heels. maybe relocate the bands maybe replace it all no idea yet but I'm very glad it is not erosion. well will post after next visit.
