    carrots
    Hey Emily or Scouty-

My ND told me to avoid carrots, as they are fungus feeders and also have too much natural sugar. He's wanting me to even avoid sugar in the natural form. So, I did avoid carrots during my initial cleanse, but have had a couple lately. Just wondered if you ever heard about avoiding carrots?

    Lisa

    Yes
though I've never heard of the fungus connection ever. Carrots are particularly good for colon health. The only thing I have heard for avoiding carrots is with breast cancer.

Interesting. But if you're under the care of a professional ND then I would follow that unless you get another opinion. In all the books I have read on juicing, I don't ever remember anything about fungus. If you can, have him explain and then share with the rest of us...if you don't mind. I'm always gathering as much info as possible.

    Scouty's Juice
    Hi all,

This is the recipe that Scouty's Naturopathic doctor gave her when she was curing her Stage IV cancer. I named it Scouty's Juice for my juicing workshop that I put on at my coop. This week I'm presenting it for the first time in my hometown where I moved last summer.

    SCOUTY'S JUICE

    1 beet with 2" diameter
    2 carrots
1" wedge cabbage (alternate red & green)
    2 celery stalks

The beets pack a punch so be careful they're small, otherwise use 1/4 of the beet if it's a bigger one. The cabbage will do wonderful things to your skin. I swear it's helped rid my body of cellulite.

My own personal recipe that I call EMILY'S CANCER CONCOCTION:

2-4 juicing carrots (they're much bigger than table carrots)
    1 granny smith apple
    1 celery stalk
    1 handful parsley
    1 handful spinach
1 small piece ginger (this also packs a punch so when I say small I mean small)

This one I chose purely on digestive strength and colon health. To this I added my flax seed, protein powder, fruit pectin and green powders. I drink a different drink now.

    EMILY'S MAINTENANCE JUICE

    4-8 juicing carrots
    2 large kale leaves
    4 large romaine leaves
    1 small wedge of cabbage

    (plus ground flax seed)

    LEMONADE FOR LIFE

    1/4 lemon
    4 apples

BEST lemonade in the world I promise! Your kids will love it!

    CHEERS!

    peace, emily

    Couple of things
My ND recommended the beets because I had liver mets and beets are supposed to be great for the liver. In ancient China farmers would grow beets for the royal family so they could elevate their family status! Just remember that it will turn your poop burgundy, it scared me at first.

Also juice your celery last since celery juice will sour in 15 minutes or so.

I will have to try that lemonade Em. Maybe later today after I plant my onions and get the garden ready for spring veggies. Lisa Rose has 15-20 foot snowbanks and I'm in shorts working in my garden!

    Me neither
But the thing about going to a good ND is that your recommendations are tailored just for you based on many others tests and your bloodwork and not just based on your weight.

Given how stressed and imflammed your body was I could see the need to avoid all sugars for a time.

    Hi Emily
I tried the lemonade; I used 3 large apples + a whole lemon. It was delicious but tasted more like great apple juice with a little lemon flavour; am I missing something, or is that how it is supposed to taste?

Its life as we know it
    Jennie

The first time I ever saw my partner cry and we are 12 years into our relationship was when I tried to give a speech at my mothers funeral.
When he was diagnosed in Aug 2009 with cancer he didn't, nor has he until recently when a few things went a bit wrong with treatment etc and it got to him.
Our strengths to handle these things in life come from within and also from those closest to us, as I said recently he is the reason I live.

Have you ever tried Matcha Green tea or Manuka Honey, both have claims to help calm you down as well as being strong on anti-oxidants, I am not spouting possible cures, I am talking about your well being. However a Professor at the grand sounding Imperial College London said that my partner should be drinking gallons of green tea, Matcha is a special kind providing the equivalent of 8/9 cups of normal green tea. He has noticed a difference so other than its not cheap what have you got to lose.

    Regards

    I love Matcha tea!
That is what I make green tea lattes with. It is a Japanese tea (supposed to be better for you than Chinese) made from the whole leaf + ground up finely - that is why it contains more vitamins + antioxidants. Not cheap, but well worth it, in my opinion.
